Modern Vespa

Build this up over the summer 2012. Now awaiting parts from sip ( 177 pinasco alloy set )
I have driven 3500km on a vespa, so far.

Great forum. Coming from the 750turbo.com site, being a former kawasaki rider.

This is my first vespa, so I am all new to this, and it problably aint 100% original, but I build it like I wanted it to look like, and I am satisfied.

Looks like a lot of work was put into it. Did you rebuild the original motor ? Top end wore out or just want more 'fast'?

I have a lot of photos from the process, I will gladly post them tonight.
The engine is stock, never opened (it has been Danish from 1967) and the mileage is 35000km. I have the original papers from the first owner, so I have some sort of idea that it's correct with the mileage. It has been storaged for many years and I am the third owner.
The reason for buying a 177 set is because I want to be able to ride 80km/h without the throttle maxed out.
Coming from a 750 turbo, that doesn't feel right

It's not too dissimilar in style to vespas restored in places like Vietnam - they have a really bad reputation for dangerous and substandard work, so people are suspicious of anything that looks like that.

I think yours looks very nice, and if you've done the work yourself there is nothing to worry about.

I have never seen a Vietnam Vespa, but if they look like mine, they look great!
I can imagine that craftsmanship obviously would lack,.
I have welded many hours on mine, it was terrible!

I've just ordered the dr 180 kit for my px with a sito plus exhaust, I'd be interested in your opinion on the performance difference when you fit the 177cc kit.

The vespa scooter looks so simple and elegant. And it is a light weight scooter which is easy for the girls to handle. But i wish to know some other details such as specifications and features of the modern scooter vespa..Share if possible..

Be aware if you bought your scoot from Vietnam. The rebuilds from there have many issues although they look really nice.
