Modern Vespa

Since I know most of us MP3 owners don't venture into the 'For Sale' section that often, I thought I'd shamelessly post this here as well. Figure if StickyFrog can do it, it must be OK.

It's a great bike with both keys (red/brown and black), all the books and tools, recent belt change, oil and filter change, and air filter cleaning.

Unfortunately for me, I was layed off recently and have to pare down my collection of toys as I make some lifestyle changes.

Fortunately for someone else, they get one heck of a deal on an well cared for MP3 500 in the fastest color (Demon black despite what anyone else may think!)

Truly sorry to hear about your layoff. I went through that this past year. I wish you a VERY fast occupational recovery.

That being said... That's an absurdly low price for your MP3. I almost feel like anyone that would buy it would just be taking advantage of you. On the other hand, if someone's looking... here's your deal.

At that price with additional shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, would be a steal.

I know the price is low, but I won't feel taken advantage of. I am only listing it on Modern Vespa, so that another forum member gets a crack at it. They get a good bike, and I get the good feeling knowing I helped them get the good bike.

Whoever gets the bike, gets a scooter that I loved riding and I hope they get as much joy from it as I did.

Also, thanks for the wish for a speedy recovery CageDodger. I believe you have ridden with my little brother Jeremy from Fredericksburg. He has an MP3 400, but I can not recall his forum name at the moment.

If my wife was a rider, I'd snap that up in a heartbeat... so otherwise, good luck on the liquidation.

Any chance you'd charge someone $5750 with a $2000 rebate, so you don't kill everyone's resale value??? Lol. just playing, good luck on your plans.

Sorry to hear of your plight - hope you move it quickly.

It is a very fair price (lower because its slower , especially in middle America.

Certainly much closer to sanity than the last MP3 that was listed in that forum.

If I had the $$$ I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Sorry for your hardship. I would think someone would snatch that up quickly. Like Bubbajon I would if I had the cash.

Do you or any of you know if it will be difficult to register in California ?

I think I read somewhere that the vehicle has to have more than 7500 miles to be registered as a used vehicle without any problem.
Fast to reach for a car, but not as easy for a bike.

Also would you be willing to ship it ? I would pay for shipping of course.

If you do buy and ship the bike, I can strongly recommend DBest Transport. They shipped my recent bike purchase from Alabama to California for $600 in cash. They were recommended to me by my local Piaggio dealer. Denes Barasz is the owner. You can contact him at dbesttransport@gmail.com. They were $100 cheaper than anyone anyone else.

It met California Emissions Standards for the 2009 model year. I do not know if those are still applicable. It has had no modifications done to the exhaust.

Shipping is not a problem.

Here's a photo of the Emmissions Sticker in the back of the trunk area.

If you bought and rode it back to California you would have over 7500 miles, problem solved!

Having gone through this with a new chinese scooter I bought over the 'net I can assure you that the main thing(s) the DMV will look for are the stickers
that state it meets CA requirements for emmisions. The only thing that may be affected by the mileage will be the cost to register it here. Go to the DMV website, there is a calculator you can use to know exactly how much to expect to pay.

From the site under registering a out of state vehicle :"NOTE:California law prohibits California residents or businesses from importing and/or registering a new vehicle with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase UNLESS it meets or is exempt from California emission standards."

Sold today to a soon to be member of this forum. Turns out a gentleman was looking for an MP3 and checking out ModernVespa when he saw this.

After a few e-mails it quickly became evident that this was an old college friend I haven't seend in 17 years. I think I am more excited by getting to catch up with him than I am by selling the MP3.

I'm still going to keep hanging out and stopping by the forum.

glad to hear you sold it. I wish I could have dropped the cash to have a spare MP3 in the barn. you priced it very well.
