Swapped out a warped FA Italia rim for a new Piaggio rim.. and the wobble is all gone.. I won't buy anything other than Piaggio for split rims from now on..

Also, replaced the rear tire w/ a new one... front tire has all kinds of plenty of tread left on it.

Bike is faster now.. I swear. I should have ordered brake pads.. now I have to do it all again when I do.

Went to Sears and got some tools! I went for a Bench Grinder, but they didn't have the one I wanted in stock so I got some other stuff I wanted.. ratcheting open ended wrenches for one, and one of those "automatic" wire stripping pliers.. Genius.. perfect every time.. another "why didn't I get that a long time ago" item.. I know I know, stripping wires isn't all that challenging but for 20-something bucks and how well it works I think it was worth it..

Had a couple visitors pop by.. Jimbob and Mr.Moi.. running in a spare top end before he embarks on the cannonball... I really liked the Bajaj 4-stroke fork he's using.... the built in anti-dive is pretty cool and it uses what looks like a rear shock.. interesting and the anti-dive works well.. (good luck Phil! )

Off to see A Perfect Circle.. kind of a work thing, taking clients.. but Maynard is always good... and given the fact the guitar player was the guitar tech from Tool, they sound awfully Tool-esque... in a good way.

I broke down twice!!!!

Was having what I thought was a beautifull ride. Suddenly the Vespa got very boggy. I pulled over and smelled gas. Shut off engine and could see gas pouring out of the scoot! Opened carb box and could see fuel line came loose and would not stay on. So I used hose clamp on oil line to make sure gas line would stay on. After ten minutes I was back on the road.

Five minutes later clutch cable snapped!!!! I think I'm being hunted by gremlins.

... wrote a letter to Scooter Center asking what we can do about my BGM tap with reserve light.. the float doesn't float!

My tank is FULL and the light just keeps coming on intermittently, so I started with wiring.. I checked all the contacts, power and ground and everything is good.. it's brand new since I just built the bike..

Same problem.. So, being that it's a very simple 2 wire setup, I ran new wires.. covered all the connections to prevent any bad grounds or anything else..

Light still popping on and off.. high revs, idle.. just very randomly..

So I open the tank while the bike is running, shine a blinding light inside and I can see the float isn't really floating up at the top...

So I take a pick and push it down to where it makes contact and the light comes on.. as it should.. then I pull the float up with the pick and the light goes off.. as it should..

As soon as I'm not manually controlling the float though, it starts ON/OFF/ON/OFF as the float just bobs around near the bottom of the little post it rides on..

This isn now good and is extremely annoying with the light coming on and going off intermittently as I ride..

I wish I had some spare Nitorphyl lying around, I'd make my own float or wrap the existing one in a little piece.. see if I could get it to actually float better..

Only wasted about 2 hours chasing phantom electrical issues... but at least my wiring is brand new.. AGAIN.. Razz emoticon

I'm standing by... awaiting a response from Scooter Center.

Time-Sert
Last week I noticed oil building up on the exhaust clamp and eventually discovered a lose nut on a cylinder stud. Replaced stud and used some loctite blue with no luck, the case had been stripped.

After doing some research and talking to a buddy, I decided to give the Time-Sert kit a try. And I am glad I did. It was super easy to install- almost too easy - and worked like a charm. Better than stock.

If you ever need to retap for a cylinder stud, I highly recommend the Time-Sert (M7 1.0 with the 18mm length inserts.) The kit is not cheap but does come with a drill bit, counter bore, tap, and installation tool along with 4 inserts (10mm length, too short for cylinder studs, but the inserts themselves are only a couple bucks each.)

If anyone in the Seattle area has a need, I have the tools you can borrow, you'll just need to order the inserts.

Today was a banner day. Picked my bike where Roberto was fixing some wiring issues but looks like I have an issue with my key switch. I guess as one I pulled that earth green wire the bike was perfect. Finally, after so much grimness not being able to ride, I got to take my bike out for a decent run. And it was brilliant. Driving very nicely. Happy days with some good weather here before I fly out on Sunday. So happy to have a bike On. The. Road. 8) 8)

Same happened to me a while back. Wouldn't start. Thought my stator had shat itself again but I had good spark and good readings on the multimeter. Pulled the green wire and it started. Plugged it back in and it died. Pulled the ignition barrel out. It looked fine. Gave it a jiggle and put it back in and has been starting fine since. Vespa gremlins. Bloody beautiful weather here too. Winter stay away.

It was a bugger. Like the cause of the issues I had a few months ago. I fixed the clutch side seal that had shat itself anyway, but frustrating that it would start, run and act like there was a fuel issue, keeping stalling and then starting when kicked over. Guess there is something loose in there. Will get it fixed, but right now I'm enjoying these few days of great weather first

Think the seal went in it. It's squishy as fuck. It is a bgm set to the second suggest setting as was previously like a rock.
Think I have a standard one and some taffy springs in the shed. That'll do for now
