Then we stopped at the Cedar Mountain Cafe on US-276 for lunch and enjoyed the best quesadillas ever... literally. We both had the same thing and agreed we've never had better (or bigger) ones. And the coffee was fantastic, too. This was a great place to stop. [But be sure to ask for the price of the special before you order it. This cafe is pricey.]
After lunch we headed up US-276 through Brevard and then to Looking Glass Falls. The falls is always worth a stop, and parking a scooter is much easier than a car...
Then the fun part started... the ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway on US-276 is a blast, with lots of curves and great scenery. We headed south on the Parkway and stopped to see Looking Glass Rock...
We only rode about 175 miles and it took seven hours, including our long lunch stop. Afterward, I was pretty convinced that I probably won't be taking a cross-country trip anytime soon. We'll just have to see... But for now, I guess I'll just enjoy the beautiful scenery nearby.
