Right folks.
I've had my Vespa a couple of weeks now, and I just wanted to query something - given that I've never ridden a Vespa before.
My bike starts no problem at all, however, the throttle seems to have little or no action when immediately applied. You seem to have to pull it back and forward until you find the correct bite point, even then it can be quite chuggy.
The Vespa has done less than 300 miles, despite being 7 years old.
Any suggestions on what the hell it might be?
It's absolutely fine when it's been ridden for a few minutes - it's just the initial start up

Fellow MV'ers, could this be an evap-related problem?

If its fine after a few minutes warming up and its a carb model it must be something to do with the automatic choke. Might just need a clean!

In the OP's description of his bike it says it's fuel injected. Not an eggspurt on the 125's but if it's fuel injected it's probably just the idle speed control being a bit sticky due to standing around for 7 years. Needs a good dose or two of Seafoam to clean the injector and throttle body. It often works! Even if it's a carbed bike, do the same thing. Seafoam...your best friend!

Edit: just noticed we are on the same side of the Atlantic here in the UK. In that case use 'Millers' petrol treatment. It's what we used in the workshop. Millers...your even better best friend!!...

I'd run at least two tankfuls of petrol through with Millers in it. It works!

This is the one! We used to get it in a bigger bottle but otherwise, it looks like it's exactly the same.
