Has anyone done the fuzzy washer mod and still had the belt rub?

The mod is to put an extra washer before the outer half of the variator, I guess so the two halves won't squeeze together too much, and the belt won't ride too high. I assume that will take care of the belt rubbing issue, but I wonder if there have ever been cases where the belt has rubbed even with the washer in there.

I'm running 21x17 14 g rollers in a gts 300.

With standard size rollers in the standard variator you don't have to worry about belt rubbing. With sliders or an after-market variator you might. Depends on the thickness of your washer.

Also if you buy "100% compatible" belts from a Greek seller on ebay. At least, my belt for 250cc mp3 was longer, thus made lots of noise.

I'm using Dr pulley sliders (the odd shaped ones not the round ones) and the washer is the same size as the one that is already in there.

I don't think anyone has ever had the belt rub with an extra same sized washer in there.

But its a little ridiculous, if you think about it. The Dr. Pulley makes the variator halves close more tightly than they otherwise would; and the washer makes the variator halves close less tightly than they otherwise would.

I have a malossi variator, 13g Dr sliders and two stock washers and had rubbing on deceleration from 100 km/h. Three washers needed to get no rubbing.
