It is now an official Oyster Tour, even though we haven't made it to Lynn's yet.

Swinning for oysters
We really wanted oysters and beer and rode through this to get them.

Here is what it looked like in person.

That is Ken ahead.

We pulled over during the heaviest rain.

Jim following. The blur is due to the waterproof camera not liking low light,

Florida oysters are often called Apalachicola oysters even thought they come from the surrounding area, such as Cedar Key.
You can (or used to) buy them right from the boat. I took a 48 qt. cooler, they shoveled it full plus some room for ice and charged me $8!
It's roughly 20 dozen.
They're muddy, and you have to shuck them, but I was in heaven!

Thank you for the generous offer, Malcolm.

I wish we were going that far.

Depending on the weather, we are going as far as Mexico Beach, and that far only to see the progress in the reconstruction of that devastated town.

I am heading home on Sunday.

There was some sunshine the first day.

Oysters at Lynns who whole back deck was taken by the hurricane. The bay is
closed to oystering so she is selling locally farmed oysters.

Apalachicola was bustling but a lot still closed. The River Front hotel,
Boss Oysters and most of the retail on the river are still closed.

A few more shots of our little adventure.
Newberry, High Springs, Wakulla Springs, Carrabelle and Apalachicola were all places of interest this time.
Oysters were devoured at the Ed Ball Lodge in Wakulla and, of course, at Lynn's.

Rocket was perfect on the trip. Passed 89,000 miles on the way home.

Glad you put that picture of Lynn and her boyfriend up Bill (Dale not me). She is a NASCAR girl all the way!

What a great report! Love that area!
Did you by chance get on over to Indian Pass, Port St.Joe, or Mexico Beach? I'm wondering how the recovery is going.
Never eaten at Lynn's- but it's on the list now! Spent lots of enjoyable evenings at Indian Pass Raw Bar.

We thought about it but didn't go further west than Apalachicola.

I have been to the Indian Pass Raw Bar, actually two of them.

The one you show at Indian Pass and one downtown St. Joe.

Nice places.
