Well this post is more of an introduction rather than a specific question but my reason for coming here is due to an issue with a Piaggio Fly 40 4t (2011)
I just now got the plastic off the body and wow, not having ever worked on a scooter before that was an interesting experience.
I'm not a great mechanic and what little work I have done has been done on Japanese motorcycles.
So a lady that I worked with had this Piaggo fly 50 for sale for $200 and it looked in great condition but she could not start it.
I've been wanting to learn more so what the heck.
So I replace the battery and it fired up without much of a problem. Actually drove it a bit (like 2 miles.
Then I noticed the battery was not fully charged and the the lights were not working.
I picked up a Piaggio manual but its from England and goes up to 2009 and the wiring diagram is not exactly matching.
There seems to be only two wires coming from the stator (a blue and a green wire)
I found this post here:
Piaggio Fly 50 - No AC current, stator keeps breaking
The in that post is that just like me, the bike runs but the lights do not.
which drew me to this site.
I just got the bike to where I can get to everything (hoping I can get her back too!)
But I have to head to work now and will keep reading on this site for any info but I guess the main thing i I got to figure out how to check the CDI module and the stator
Anyway, like I say, this was more of an introduction will post more and keep everyone informed as I make progress. If any one knows where to get a wiring diagram for a piaggio fly 50 2011 US model that would be cool.
I've downloaded some but the difference seems to be the CDI unit in the front has like 9 wires in it (Piaggio ECU/Ignition Control Unit - CM088402) which don't match what I have down loaded or the book I bought. The coil in the back (right side) looks like it only has two wires. But I doubt there is any issue with the coil because it's running fine.
The rectifier has 5 wires and one diagram seem to show power going from here to the lights.
Well I digress... better get to work.
Talk with you all later.
