Here is 1979 P200E that I have seen listed before on CL but apparently couldn't sell at the price asked so seems trying to get 30 people to buy $100 lottery tickets.

So, is this scooter worth $3k? Is it a legit, not bodge?

Legit bike in good condition from photo, but overpriced. That's why it won't sell. Also good luck giving a random guy on Craigslist 100 for a "lottery ticket" in the hopes that he reaches enough people buying tickets. What happens if he doesn't get the required number? What happens if he does and he doesn't actually lottery it off?

Never would I participate in that even if I was seriously interested. There are many p200s in New England for less.

Edit: almost all vintage Vespas are way overpriced on Craigslist. People getting out trying to get their money they put into it in the height of popularity. Not as in demand anymore, not gonna get top dollar anymore, especially for less desirable models. The ones appropriately priced don't sit on CL for long. I'm of the mindset you price it right for the market and don't get greedy or you hold onto it forever. As a buyer, be patient and search all of new England. There are a decent amount of good stuff in Maine pretty regularly.

It's kinda painted like a Winter model Lammy. It's a litttle bit of a gamble for me, but i figure if i paypal the seller for 15 tickets, i stand a real good chance at winning it!

I would not participate in that either, In fact I'm not sure what he is doing is legal.

I paid $550 for mine complete but surface rust and completely disassembled. Saw another one in Boston last week missing front fender and cowls. Frame assembled but engine removed and included in sale go for probably less than 700 cause it was up for over a month. I contacted them but he must have sold it cause he never responded then took ad down.

I wouldn't pay more than 1800 for a complete p200 in good condition. Lots of them listed for 3-6k that sit online for months.

This one in Long island might be good, might be crap. The guy has three ads up, two p200s and clearly a 60s bodge, not vietbodge but a non matching headset to cowl and front fender. That bodge gives me pause to trust his p200 ads but they are cheap.

Uh... it's a little short on details, if you know what I mean. And a custom paint job is usually only awesome to one person... the one who got it done.

Oh, and it ain't worth 3 large... a good P200 is worth around 2k. Maybe less.

As for the legality of it, uh... that's weird. I know my daughter lives in a small native village in northern Quebec and people do lotteries for all sorts of stuff, but it's a small remote village. Someone might do a Costco or Walmart run (6 hours away!) and bring back some stuff and try to recoup the cost of the stuff.

The seller, in this case, is an idiot. Let's say he finds 30 dudes willing to pony up a $100 scratchy for him, he lets the scoot go to one of the guys, and he's stuck with 30 potential losing tickets.... bubkis! The lottery is never a good bet. You're better off going to the casino.

Hahaha.. if less than 30 people send him $100 he pockets the cash and keeps the scoot. Cha-ching!

I sent the guy an email asking for more details such as more pics and VIN.

I also gave him a heads up that it is illegal in VT to hold a raffle unless it is for non-profit, educational, religious or civic fund raising purposes.

If you like it and want it. Go see it with cash in hand for the amount you want it for and he may sell it. Hard to turn down cash in hand especially when he clearly wants to sell it. If not then walk away. He might contact you after realizing he wants money more than the hassle of selling an overpriced scoot. It pays to be willing to walk away from a deal of it's not in your price range.

The VT one has been for sale before for around $3k, and didn't sell so the guy is trying a raffle, which is illegal in VT.

I saw the others and figured that was a scam.

Haha! Thatís just ridiculous. Even if the guy is serious and not trying to purposely scam anyone heís still an idiot. Feel like this guy smokes wayyyyy too much weed.
And yeah that paint? Awful. Must be a Cincinnati Bengals fan.

Is there even such a thing as a Bengals fan? I don't even think their own city likes them, let alone someone in Vermont. They suck!

Yeah, I saw that ad. Way too cheap for a 210 kitted P200.

And he said in one ad that Mossimo in Santa Clara did maintenance on it. Uh, New England isn't anywhere near Santa Clara.

Back to the original question and scooter. The ad is gone as he realized it is illegal to do a raffle in VT. I did get him to send me the VIN. DGM167730MVSX1T37902

I have been attempting to decode and so far I have found that VSC1T is a P200E code and 37902 indicates it is a 1980 not 1979 model.

I have not found what the DGM167730M signifies yet. Anyone help?
