I know someone has in the 60,000 mile range.
Not sure how many miles he has been adding, I thought the MP3 was not his main ride anymore.
Can't remember who it was though

Use AGIP 4W-40 oil try to change around 5,000. Some times less sometimes more. Never go full throttle for long periods of time. Ride it hard but try to keep long high RPM time as low as I can. If I am going up a long hill I try to let off once in a while to let the RPMs go down on leveler areas.

Just added some BMW 5w-40 oil the last change and I can't understand a thing the scooter says to me now, it's speaking German

Need to order another case of oil AGIP, (now ENI) I was caught off guard when I went to do my last oil change and I was out and the oil was in the drain pan already, hence the BMW $15 a qt oil.

And always run 91 octane or higher.

Hit 59,000 when I arrived at the Data Center this morning.
Went to grab lunch yesterday about 15 minutes from my house and ended up doing close to 150 miles and stopped by The Apple house in Lindon, Va. near Front Royal, Va. Had a Chocolate Soft Serve with chocolate sprinkles.
Halfway thru the cone I was thinking, damn should have selected crushed peanuts instead as I saw a kid walk by with one. Next time.

Personally I haven't done much if anything more than routine.
But then, I only have the 46,000 miles on mine.

Very Encouraging
Just got my 2009 and had no idea if the milage was high or not. So this thread made me feel very happy at just under 7500 miles.

43,000 on mine. But I did have to rebuild the top end since a piston land was fractured. I expect another 40,000 out of it. But that will probably take me until i'm 90.

I have been away from this forum, and my MP3 for a long time now. So when did someone come up with the idea to use 91 octane to not blow the piston rings? I had an accident on my RV250 shortly after the second rebuild, with a cracked piston of course, and finally sold it. The damn thing was still spitting oil even after the second rebuild.

Well it does require 91 per the manual. And putting two and two together gave us cracked piston ring form ping from wrong gas. Not the only cause of the problem and can be an issue.

Sure, buy why would NOT put the "best" gas in a motorbike? They are dirt cheap to fill up regardless and penny wise pound foolish comes to mind. I could be wrong and please correct me if I am... There really is no downside to using the premium gas found at a pump in a modern bike. Maybe it's a performance thing? Pretty sure it will not damage the engine.

Actually anything over required octane leaves more carbon deposits behind than the correct octane would.

carbon buildup is a result of poor gas quality. which is indirectly related to octane level. octane level determines burn rate of fuel. 87 burns faster than 93. 93 burns smoother as it has a longer push on the piston. fuel additives determines whether fuel will burn clean or not. generally speaking they dont put quality additives in low octane fuels. so 87 octane will generally result in more carbon buildup.

saw a post years ago where a guy wanted to find the best gas for his turbocharged vehicle. he collected ten 93 octane samples in glass jars from pumps local to him. he had pics posted and it was very telling. no two looked the same. from dark brown to nearly clear. so even within same octane there is a vast array of quality at the pump.

ethanol level also varies. the 10% is just the max allowed. it may have 8% or even less. they arent required to specify

But with too high an octane the burn is too late and not complete leading to carbon build up on piston and head.
