Hi everyone,
Just rescued this beauty from a village outside Nairobi, Kenya. Iím doing a complete tear down and rebuild. Iíll hopefully keep you updated as the project moves along.

Iíve already run into an issue (go figure!). I removed the headset, and took the nuts off the fork shaft, and it wonít slide out of the frame. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Perhaps itís caught up on the steering lock, maybe give it a hard turn to the left or right, may need a whack with a rubber mallet to break it free. Looks like youíre going to be quite busy bringing it back to life.

It looks like the fork is bent. You can tell by looking at the swingarm. The fork, spring, and shocks should be parallel to each other. The fork maybe pressed against the frame and jammed in the tunnel. Hit it too much and may damage the frame. Maybe heating the bottom of forks and hitting to unbend would free it enough for removal.

So I got the fork out. It appears there are two stops just below the lower bearing that it was getting hung up on? Anyway itís out and the tear down is almost complete. [/img]

That was a 12v coil that had set up to run this thing. It ran, but what a crazy set up. How is it possible for that thing to work on a 6v system?

Another issue I noticed during tear down was the carburetor housing was touching the frame when there was no pressure on the back shock.
Any idea what would cause this?

Nice to see you got the steering dislodged. Perhaps what you're see with the carb hitting the frame is caused by the rear shock being weak or bent.

Either worn out engine bushings, frame is bent, or the rear frame holes where the engine swingarm bolt passes though are ovaled out. Definitely replace the bushings first.

You have your work cut out for you! I see you have a Rally tank.
Do have a good look at the forks for straightness as Rowdy mentioned.
