Last summer when I bought the MP3 I replaced the trunk popper motor that wasn't working.

Now less than a year later the new one quit.

Pulled it all apart last night and the little electric motor inside the unit was jammed up. Looks like water infiltration. Even though I had sealed all the way around the new unit with silicone RTV and globbed the connector with silicone grease. Water still got in.

Wat engineer thought it was a good idea to mount it under the floorboards? Has anyone ever re-located theirs somewhere else?

An Italian one.

Logic is not their strong suit, just as some Ferraris have the battery in the passenger footwell almost up in the lower dash. A utterly stupid design.
