Probably a long shot but does anyone recognize what kind of scooter this is?

My wife's dad sometime between 1945 and 1947.

I am by no means an expert, but it appears to be a Salisbury? It could be a doddlebug as well kinda has that look. But given the time frame it could be a cushman or Sears kit sold thru the catalog.

Hope that at least gives you a start on research.

Sears was the first think that came to mind for me as well.

The Powell Streamliner 40 looks right to me and could align with his time in California/Hawaii during WWII.

For some reason I thought Salisbury made a similar model and after a quick search I realized they were much more refined!

This immediately reminds me of the AWESOME exhibit the Petersen Automotive Museum did on scooters a few years back. That was so awesome, with Messerschmit scooters, Vespas, etc. there were so many odd scoots.... Fantastic.
