I am now the proud owner of the bv 350 that i love.

Had the bv 300 and i upgraded.

One of the upgrade i made for the bv 300 and loved it was installing dr. pulley rollers in the stock variator.

In my mind its a no brainer considering the performance upgrade and the cost.

However, i cannot find the dimensions and weight for the 350.
I know that it uses 8 rollers instead of 6.
I checked the manual and did not find it.
I asked my dealer (only 1 in Cyprus) and he has no clue
I emailed dr. Pulley european site and he answered saying that he doesnt have the dimensions or weight.
I also checked the parts manual posted in the m.v forum.
I think i found the correct part in page 19 of the manual, but where is the information area it says its not available.

I know i can take out the variator in my bike and measure and weigh them, but i am not so good with this and prefer not to take it to the mechanic to take it apart and then put it back and then take it apart after i order an d receive the rollers.

Any help guys?

Surely your dealer has the ability to weigh the rollers?? Every service centre I have been too has the sensitive scales that allows them to weigh rollers etc.

I would think they would have the tools to measure the rollers for size too. I would ask them to measure for you if you can't find the information anywhere.

I thought I read somewhere that the 350 Engine comes standard with DR Pulleys from Piaggio. You may not need to upgrade.
I guess you will find out when you take it apart, or check the parts manual.

I believe I read the X10 is standard with the Dr Pulley, but I have not seen that with the BV350.

Found out the answer by opening the gearbox so for anyone interested

8 stock rollers with dimensions of 25 x 16 mm weight of 15.9 grams each

I then contacted Dr. Pulley EU shop asking him for a solution as they produce 25 x 17 and 25 x 15 in various weights.

He was surprised that piaggio departed from their usual 17mm dimension (completely new transmission though) and advised on the 25 x 17 mm with weight of 14 g or 15 g and filing the rollers to achieve the dimension needed.

This development has changed my mind and now i am not so sure anymore with this upgrade.

I might go for the new mallosi or polini variator.

Read some reviews on the mallosi one from some guys who fiited it in greece.

No feedback yet on the polini.

Will check for more info for know

Out of curiosity, what would you want the DR's to accomplish that the stock set up doesn't?

I recently put DR's on my MP3 and it really spiced things up on the low end of the throttle - love them. However, the MP3 500 is still a PIG compared to the BV350. It just seems to me the stock BV350 is good as is?

As i said earlier, i fitted the rollers on my previous scoot and was very impressed

They last longer and what i want is more accelaration with the same top speed.

Already achieving 103 mph (speedo not gps)
They can achieive this because of their design.

For me they are a must have.

Spoke with my engineer again he said we can file down the rollers 1 mm (speaking for the plastic, not the actual metal) very easily

I will order the 25x17 14 grams today and will inform you on the results

Delivery took a bit more time than expected

Finally received them and went to mechanic to install them

Remember, they need trimming (1mm each) on the edge (plastic not metal) which is easy to do and does not affect the performance nor the durability

This was done with an electric trimming machine (dnt know how is called)

ANyway, the whole trimming process took about 15 minutes for all 8 rollers.

They were of course measured with accuracy to achieve the 16mm required

FItting them in the place of the stock rollers took another 10 minutes

Trying them out i could immediately feel stronger acceleration.

This was evident throught the rpms

You can easily feel the improved acceleration.

Cheched the top sped at the same piece of highway as in stock form and it remains unchanged. Bit more than the 160 that is the limit on the speedo though it achieves it faster.

I dnt have gps measurements for stock and now but i conclude tha my findings have been consistent with previous experiments with dr pulley rollers on my previous scoots.

As for consumption, i was halfway through my tank when i installed them.

Will have the results in as soon as i refuell for the second time

Dnt expect major differences in consumption as i stayed within the 15% lower weight than stock rule.

In fact in my bv300 i went -8% from stock weight and consumpion was reduced

Will post update for the consumption

All in all, i think i made the right choice

Few notes, the rolers are a bit more expensive

Paid 50 euro + delivery

Previous set for the bv300 was 27 euro

Still cheaper than variator and i consider the scooter modiefied stock if you know what i mean.

It doesnt lose anything in terms of reliability and the rollers are documented to have twice the life of the stock

So if you dnt mind a bit of grinding, its a win win

The weight is 14g as i posted earlier

The 17mm was chosen over the 15mm after the suggestion of the manufacturer (dr pulley) and my detailed correspondence with him

I am guessing the 15mm would leave the rollers with too much slack

As i said, filing them down 1mm takes about 10-15 min and its quite easy

SR2516 for BV350

It'll be an option to modify the length of SR2517 down to 16mm to test it in BV350.
Right now there's no BV350 in Asia (Taiwan or Singapore) so it's not easy to make a SR2516 for BV350.If someone who can give us the data A/B/C/F/G/H/I(see attached for GP800 variator) about the BV350 variator then we can try to make a compatible SR2516 for BV350.
