Great news! As a fellow BP'er I've been in your position and know exactly where you're coming from.
Thanks. Yeah, don't think I'm unique. Fortunately I'm not all that high, so taking a bit of a hiatus before trying to sort it out.

It showed up at Kaiser. When i got up this morning i got a email from my friend lori and she said they called her and said they had my phone. WOOT Am so glad that their are still honest people in this world. If i can figure out who found it i'll give them a reward. Doing my happy dance.

Just had "the talk" with my wife.

I've been going to dark places on the internet and spotted a nice looking 2013 Beverly near my sister's house where we'll be on the way to 10K Scoots in MPLS. After not owning one all of these years, the thought was tantalizing.

Worry was, that my wife said if I bought another scooter, we'd have to buy her a bigger house) including, of course a bigger garage. That might have been before the GTS, so I've already pushed my luck. I'd put off the inevitable conversation until this morning, expecting to get shot down, but she actually started reflecting on where it could be stored.

So while the deal hasn't happened, and may not, by far the biggest hurdle has been jumped. Woot!

P.S. Well, she may have said that if I got another Vespa, we'd need a new house....

Welcome to the Dark Side
A racing buddy of mine called yesterday to ask for help in finding a Vespa. He has raced motorcycles and cars for decades, mocked my devotion to Vespa, and said, " I never thought I would be asking for this..." If you live long enough apparently you can be proven to be correct.

It’s so nice to have my Vespa back. The flickability, not having to have part of my mind occupied with RPM-clutch-downshift-upshift-downshift-upshift though traffic...making sure my bad foot is staying on the footpeg....

I even got caught in a surprise amost-downpour, but between the midsize windscreen, being on the bypass and interstate, and mid-80’s F temps, I had dried off by the time I got home.

...And, thanks to that summer shower, I get to procrastinate on mowing the lawn for a few more hours while the grass dries off.

I didn’t realize how much I missed the spontaneity of a scooter until this ride. If I didn’t have things that have to get done, I’d probably be halfway up some mountain by now.

It's Losartan. I know a lot of people do fine with it, but not me.

It's complicated, but still important for people to do their own homework, and report negative outcomes.

Right now, taking nothing...going to keep dropping weight. This morning my self-administered check was 140/80. Not going to worry about that in the short run. Want to see what 10# does before reporting in.

Just checked in with my insurance agent on the new (to me) BV. Going to be a lot cheaper than I thought.... around $140/year. My GTS was over twice that. Better yet, I was told that they don't update value automatically, so my estimated value is going to easily drop a couple thousand, saving me even more. Woot!

I live close to Ducati's North American HQ and pass it going and coming back from work. I was stopped at a stoplight and two guys in Ducati Service t-shirts walked past in the crosswalk heading to HQ. I got a thumbs up.

After a stressful end of the week dealing with vacation preps and cell phone issues, we set off to the U.P of Michigan. Seemed not pushing it too much to reserve a Lake Superior boat tour in 5 1/2 hours with a 4 hour drive time.

Lost a bit of time stopping for bathrooms, etc, then flipped on the GPS which gave our arrival time of 17 minutes AFTER the boat departs. Crap. Time zone change. I was aware of it for the ferry returning across Lake Michigan, but not for the beginning of the trip.

We try to call to see if we can reschedule, but no one answers. Nothing else to do but keep driving and kick yourself for stupidity.

We arrive, my wife rushes up to the desk, and by the time I get there, they've reissued tickets for a later cruise. All good. Weather was perfect (6 years ago they aborted the tour due to rough water) and sunlight on the rocks was near perfect.

I've ridden two days in a row now after not riding for like 3 weeks.

I hit my goal weight today!!!

I've been trying to loose 5 pounds. Sadly, I lost them from lack of movement due to poor air quality thanks to the wild fires. Respiratory infection stemming from poor air quality and a lovely 24 hour stomach flu helping me purge all excess fluids!

I know it's just a number on a scale and am SO happy to hit it. I KNOW the hardest part is coming, maintaining this weight.

We have finely got people to put details into tickets when requesting work.
Received a ticket today that started, "Walk To Cage" ......
Think we're getting through to them

To much detail is better than none, like we received in the past.

Finally got a full motorcycle license and can take the fffing L plates off my bike.

Only took me 18 years of owning and riding scooters.

Ignoramus here...

Is there anything particularly difficult about getting a full motorcycle license in the UK? Just curious, know absolutely nothing about it.

Congrats nonetheless Johny!

Well it is not so much it is difficult it just the time and money you need to invest into it. There are 3 tests.

1. Theory (which includes a hazard perception test)
2. Mod 1 (bike handling in a specially designed area at the test centre)
3. Mod 2 (road riding)

I think most people will fail at least one of those across the process and need to repeat it. In summer it is really hard to get a test booked up due to demand and lack of bike test centres/examiners. The actual government cost for the tests is reasonable but the catch 22 is you are not legally allowed to ride a 650cc bike to a test centre unless you are under instruction. So you need to pay for the bike and instructor to go with you. Doing the Mod 2 in London I believe is more tricky than other parts of the UK as there are more hazards to deal with in the 30-40 minute ride you must complete. To ride the 650cc at the school they expect you to have ridden a geared motorcycle before. So even though I ride a shifty I had to do a one day geared conversion class on a 125cc motorcycle. Overall the process cost me about £1200. Looking around I notice most doing the full license are over a certain age and this is due I think to the costs involved. I imagine this harms the scooter business and is why you see a lot of 125cc here and ones with L plates.

The autumn kicks in.

Today it's been around +10C (50F) and raining most of the day.

I dug out the bike manual, to see hints how to take the battery away under the ecu unit the easiest way. Not going to do it quite yet, but soon the time comes....

and after this melancholic feeling of giving up the season, I went out with the dog. Fully armed with rain gear, including good rubber boots.

And it was just simply beautifull! Leaves turning into multiple colors, first ones fallen already. The sky dark, but air fresh from all the rain and cold.

Damn, it felt good to be alive!

Just found out the new WALL TV unit in the lobby of the data center is connected to Direct TV and if I am willing to pay the $5 a month, they will add the Sports Package so I can watch NASCAR on it when I am on weekend shift with nothing to do
I would say it is 20' x 25' or bigger

If we could just bring alcohol onto the property I would watch all the races at the data center.

Sadly not much, just one of those weird "I'm in a funk days" Thanks depression! I can tell the meds are helping it not spiral out of control. Just a low level "blah" kind of a day. I even rode around on my lunch hour to try to shake it off with no real difference. Usually works.

Just accepting it and pushing through. Tomorrow will be better.

I passed the MSF course this weekend! Temps in upper 80s, humid, I was clearly the most timid rider after the other woman dropped out. I wanted to give up because I could not coordinate the clutch and throttle and gear shifting and brakes. Too much for my brain in that humidity and full sun beating down on us with no shade in sight for 2 days straight. Still, I pushed through and did it! These 2 older guys in the class said they were so impressed with me and how I just stayed at it. One said that he couldn’t believe how well I did on the 2nd day (after tanking almost everything on the 1st day, lol). The other one said that I kept him going because I didn’t give up. So sweet. I’m still glowing from it so yeah - me, a middle-aged Asian woman wearing mom jeans and granny glasses passed the class here in rural New England - definitely still cheering me up.
