I just bought a brand new Piaggio MP3 500 hpe Sport.

Only rode it home so far (7 miles).

It's like a starship compared to my 2008 MP3 400, which BTW is for sale.

I went to the store not because I needed anything. I am still clumsy with the gloves and dropped my key in the parking lot.

After a little shopping and striking a conversation with the clerk I took my bags and was going back to my scooter realizing I did not have my key. I went back and asked if they had seen a black key around. They said no. So the panick attack almost sets in. On my way out a lady kindly asked me: is this the key you are looking for?

I said yes and told her thanks and more thanks.

Now I stop and ponder about the fact that there are some good honest people around here.

Minnesota joins hands-free states
Beginning August 1 it will be illegal for drivers to use phones in other than hands-free mode. It won't eliminate all distracted driving but it's a start.

We've had that here for a long time. It may lessen usage but believe me it comes nowhere close to stopping it.

Thank you to all the cagers that are nice enough to make room for bikes to filter in traffic jams. A surprising amount of them do and it is appreciated. Saved me a lot of time today.

The Triumph Dakota rider slowing down and speeding up to keep the truck driver boxed in during traffic! Then, when a que had formed to the freeway onramp, he lane split and hopped on to the freeway leaving the truck driver stuck in a que.

I mentioned in the Pissing you off thread what happened. Trust me it's minor and petty but also glorious!

Well, I was going to write a few things like well, it's May, got a good ride in to visit my mother on Saturday, my foot's swelling is down enough I don't need a shoe horn to squeeze my foot into a shoe....little things, but, hey...

Anyway, after a really nice, sunny and warm day yesterday, it cooled down 30 degrees overnight, 50% chance of rain. Despite the cool, damp temps, almost talked myself into riding to work. I might have still had regrets on driving except that it started raining before I left for work.

I have a couple of freeway miles, then an exit with a VERY sharp curve with a cant to the outside of the curve that is a fun challenge on the scooter....except for today. The lane was half-covered by a gravelly slurry which on hindsight probably came off of a cement truck. The cant of the road surface made it impossible to see until you were on it. It could have turned out to be a very nasty start to the day.

Wearing my new riding jeans, used my new mesh jacket this morning on the ride in. Didn't grab my new AFX-36 Modular helmet today but later this week. Still. Good ride in. Good tunes on. It's a good day!

Got smucked hard by a deer today. That's the bad news.

Good news is that he was a little guy and I was only going about 20 mph on a Forest Service road and he ran smack dead on into my right leg and I did not go down. He sure did, though. Although he walked off the road; I thought for sure he must have broken his neck, but nope.

Knocked me hard enough that the barkbusters were all outta whack and I reefed the clutch lever way out of position. ...I honestly can't believe I didn't go down, but he hit right at the knee armor and basically I just skidded laterally about a foot.

Best news is that it wasn't the juvenile moose that popped out in front of me just 20 minutes earlier, about ten feet in front of me -- that dude would have utterly creamed me. I was still pumping adrenaline from that when this lil dude bopped me. Five seconds earlier or later and five inches ahead or behind and I woulda been doooown.

First day riding way in the middle of nowhere in the woods, so either I just had really bad-meets-good luck or I may have to rethink riding out in the woods!

Also bizarrely lucky: if I'd been in my truck I'd be looking at thousands of dollars worth of damage.

When my wife is home I usually do the cooking (a hobby) and she's been a vegetarian here entire so usually meals are meatless. Sometimes I will make something on the side for me.

She's at her parents for the weekend and I'm riding up tomorrow to visit the in-laws. So while she is away.... I'm not cooking and no way is it vegetarian!

Replaced the timing belt and associated pulleys etc on our 2005 Subaru Outback, well due at 125,000 miles. Never done one of those before - very relieved it all worked OK afterwards!

Well, I got new tires and a 200 km round trip to fetch them, but I didn't get a story like that one. Good on the tanker drivers and the company!

Rented a cottage in Prince Edward County and I forgot to bring my rain gear. So went to the closest "big" town to pick up a set. Asked Siri if there was a pub near by and she brought me here. Siri did good this time

The stout is awesome! I'll be picking up a few growlers of it for sure. Too bad I'm on the bike or I'd have a few more but I need to behave myself. Added bonus the sun has poked out which is a rare event this spring.

Starts in Midtown. Ride up to Folsom Lake and back. Bbq back at the start off point. I think a migration to Press club in the afternoon/evening for drinks and listening to records spin.
