Drinking a pint at 8:00 am? Or did you mean a pint of coffee?

Well nothing if one is NOT going to get back on scooter and ride again.

Just signed the papers for the closing on the house I'm selling. My friend the lawyer came over for it.
Halfway through, she explains that she could have all the money wired to herself, but goes on to say "if you're gonna do it, you're only gonna do it once, and this isn't enough for me to run away with".

So I guess I'm safe? 😜

It wasn't 8 am. There is this the thing called time zones. Hell if my Irish ass can't handle a single pint of beer and operate a Vespa I will hand in my Irish ancestry card. Also legal as I'd be well under the limit. Some people get silly about these things. I've also taken every advanced motorcycle course in the city and passed them all. That alone more than makes up for a single pint. I hate coffee shops and much prefer a bar and a BIG TV.

Oh I'm also happy that you can fit A LOT on a Vespa with the right stuff. With the saddle bags and floor rack it almost holds as much as the C650GT. Long haul up the steps to the cottage! First time we've rented this one and it's beautiful so I'm happy about that as well. Now I need another beer and a shower!

Great roads around here. Spooky Hollow road which you take to get the cottage is a beautiful twisty road with a magnificent tree canopy. Lives up to its name.

Seeing my son's best friends Dad on the Kymco this morning that I helped him find. Encouraged him to take the MSF (He did) and was geared up on our morning commutes!

*I hope to get the Vespa up and running then maybe we can ride together on our way into work!

There was about half a glass of wine left in the cask. I finished it off by drinking straight from the nozzle. It felt so good!

I found a $38 workable aftermarket carburetor for the stock Genuine Buddy 125. Sure it's 2mm larger and the jets are all wrong out of the box but once you get it fiddled with, it's just as good as stock and doesn't require intake/manifold/throttle customization.

That's huge for people trying to fix Genuines on a tight budget as the stock carb is more than $200, and it's not like it's Dellorto. It's just a CVK like everything else out there it seems...

Got our second delayed bag delivered tonight. Why they couldn't keep them together is a head-scratcher. Never thought I'd be happy to see a suitcase full of stale, dirty laundry, but there were also some Vespa mugs stowed away too...

Vacation is officially over, I guess.

From the other day....car rental agent advised us to take the pricier option on returning the car tank empty due to a gas strike in Portugal. Turned out we were able to do just that. My frugal father would be proud.

Did my first overnight trip in years on the scooter.
Since my Quadriceps surgery my claustrophobia had been so bad I could not sleep in a room with the blinds shut or a small room. for this reason I have not been doing overnight trips in the last 4 years. Well last week did my first overnight trip and it went well.
Did almost 500 miles on back roads in two days. GPS showed average speed as 35 MPH. I found some really good roads on Pa and WV. Found a road like the tail of the dragon but maybe not be as long and it needs repaving. Bet I didn't go 50 feet without a very tight turn, fastest I got on that road was 40 MPH and did a bit a center of stand scraping. 30-35 was my average speed on the section.

It's off Pt 9 in WV between Paw Paw and Burkely Springs. Just look for the winding shortcut to the north of route 9 on the map.
Just checked the map, it's Rt 18. Detour road coming from Berkeley Springs and Magnolia Road coming from PawPaw.

Worked late tonight.
I wandered out to the carpark and fished for my keys in my jacket pocket...nope.
Somehow the scooter was still there with the key hanging out of the seat lock after 13 hours.

New tires
Iam excited to get new K61 tires pretty soon. I've read people have made different size choices with the front tire instead of keeping it the stock size.

I plan on getting a 140 for the rear and keeping it stock size in the front. I've read a 130 in the front is kinda hard to steer. Believe my Zelioni's would look cool with a 140. My research shows about 6000 miles for the 140 so I dont believe I be losing anything since I get about 6000 out of the City Grips.

Bought a Primavera this morning. Wont be able to pick it up for a few weeks because it's up the island. Probably a bit overdue.

I have done that a few times, as at home and work I don't remove the keys.

Chicken harmony
My mother got some chicks to add to our flocks this year and raised them for some months for me.

Integrating chickens into a flock is supposed to be challenging...there can be a lot of fighting to sort out dominance. You're supposed to do a gradual introduction to keep it less stressful, but my situation doesn't make that too easy. I'd let my older hens run free in the yard (they usually behave), and thought the three new ones could run in the enclosed yard to get used to their new territory. I didn't have a plan for separating them for the night, so chanced letting them all together. So far it's gone swimmingly. They pretty much ignored each other which is better than I could expect.

Dogs are supposed to be tough to bring a new one into an existing pack, but my pack (currently five) has been ever changing for nine years now, and I've been lucky to have no real issues. The newest one is the "universal friend" that everyone likes.

An abused dog like this should hate people and other dogs, but she loves everyone.

You're a good man Charlie Brown. Congrats on the new addition to the family. All dogs deserve a loving home.

I'm out with my new addition today. Not as altruistic as yours however learning to ride the Ural is a blast.

When your wife runs a dog rescue, they just find their way to you. Biki is a super sweet dog, that's why she's part of our pack. I only pick them on personality.

Of the nine dogs I've owned in the past ten years, she's the sweetest.

I'm happy I found matching gloves for the new bike and of course it's REV'IT! . I should own stock. Not cheap but they look great with the rig and are beautiful gloves.

I picked up my new MP3 500 hpe yesterday and rode it to work today. It has been a saga getting to this scooter, but, thanks to some very helpful people at Piaggio US and especially David Meyer, my dealer at Vespa Sherman Oaks, it worked out.

Some of the saga about the non-hpe MP3 500 hpes can be found here:
