I would like a windshield for my MP3 500. What is the best type to get, scratch resistant lexan? Want to look over it slightly. Anyone have one for sale? Or best place to order from?
By the way I passed my skills test and am now out cruising on the highway. I try and get out every day and am building confidence with every ride. Thanks to hubby for his patience and tips (even if I do snarl at him now and then lol). That 19ft circle was tight, 12ft slalom was easy.

The most popular one is the Madstad for the 500. There are several other possibilities and I'm sure they will chime in soon.
Contact them with your height so they can match what is best for you. support@madstad.com
As far as anyone willing to sell theirs, Good Luck.
On the MP3 500 you are sitting much lower.

I have a Madstad. It calmed the air and the aerodynamics added about 4 mpg to my fuel efficiency. Love it. Plus he is very very easy to deal with!!

The other most popular windscreen for the 500 would be the Givi 340D windscreen available from a number of online dealers. It is not adjustable but it is easy to install and relatively inexpensive. http://www.pca-one.com/productDetail.asp?productID=43

I had a Givi and loved the shape, stle, and coverage. I now have a Madstad. The Madstad is stronger, clearer, and more adjustable. I put spacers on my Givi. The Madstad is darker though and adjustments take some time. It's not a quick adjust.

My previous screen was a Givi 340D until a heavy snowfall busted it. Loved it a lot, were you aware of of an upgrade mod for the airflow. A Cure for Some, A Bandaid for Others/500-Givi fix

Madstad now provides a larger range of shades.

No, I had not seen that modification. Thanks. I might be getting a Bill Mayer seat on Monday so I might do this after the seat is in and I see how much adjustment I need to make. Best part is this modification may be the cheapest mod I have ever done on my MP3.

When I bought my used 500, the OEM wind shield lasted about a month, before I ordered the Madstad 18" clear.

Love it!

Yeah it takes a while to adjust it, but when you find that sweet spot ... you will never change it again.

Not great options so far. The Givi looks best but not clear and maybe weak?
The Madstad is narrow and looks um, not for me.

I have the Givi but if I could do it again, I would go Madstad. I tried both and although the Madstad looks smaller, it blocked the wind better and I could adjust it to my driving position.

Choices choices choices .... but that is your decision to make which one you want to go with.

I have the 18" Madstad clear. I didn't like the OEM windscreen that came with the scoot and after reading the forum that is the one I went with. The Givi isn't adjustable ... and I don't feel any wind buffering against my body or helmet with the Madstad. You can get the Madstad in different lengths.

In fact, do a search for Cagedodger he got with Madstad to develop the wind shield just for our MP3 500 scoots.

But that is just me.

You might be able to get the mounting plate and robobrackets from Madstad and then have a local glass/plastic place make a windshield that will suit your desires. They used to sell the mounting plate separately, but I don't know if they still do. I think you'll have to contact them to find out.

I seem to remember someone that bought a screen off of eBay for like a Suzuki cruiser that they mounted to their Madstad brackets, but I can't find the link...

If you're looking for one pre-configured that's wider, you could see if you could find an Ermax shield.

If you've got any other questions, feel free to ask!

Putting a Givi Airflow onto standard Givi windshield for 500
Has anyone adapted the Givi Airflow to the Givi windshield to increase the height of the screen?
I find the Givi windshield is about 3-4 inches too short for me and I receive allot of wind buffering with it.

I have consider it really close and do think it is very feasible to do.

I probably would cut the standard Givi down about 6 " to remove the top curvature.

line up and mark the positions for the new slide mounts, drill and install mounts. then just slip the new extension on.

This is what I was thinking as well.
Do you know if the Airflow upper part can be ordered separately?
Cant seen to locate it on the website.

Love this bike.
Had the Givi and hated it - microturbulkence at the top made me feel like a bobble-head over 50 mph.
Have not owned a Madstad but I hear good things.
I have an Ermax that I imported - I love it. It's also cheap even with overseas shipping.
Do a search here on Ermax and you'll find it.

WS SCOOTER HP + 20 CM (+ FIT KIT )ERMAX FOR FUOCO 500 IE 2007/2014

http://www.ermax.fr/modele2-FUOCO_500_IE_2007_2014-1848.html

I ordered it from Red Racing Parts Italy. Do NOT get the sport - it's the same size as the stock POS. I have to say it was a bit slow to get here and do NOT order in August as that is when everyone in Italy takes vacation. If you order now it should be ok. I have the Tobacco color which looks really good with the red 500's.

012202003 - for "Fume Clair"
I did not see that listed on Red Racing so you may need to call them. If they special order it ask for it to be shipped direct from the distributor - otherwise they do the stupid thing of sending it to Red Racing who then remails it. Ask me how I know.

your shield is for a 400 totally different than what the post is about and thats 500 windshields.

Now on to your 400 shield Givi has come out with a much better adjustable windshield for the 250/400 folks AF504. it works excellent.

Not for a 500, but for a 400 I can recommend a shield from Cee Bailey. They have several different sizes and they are the best quality I've seen. Their company makes aircraft windshields.

I put one on my wife's 400 last fall. The airflow now just hits the very top of her helmet which makes it much more comfortable than a stock shield.

when you guys talk about the stock/oem windshield...you're referring to the black solid plastic piece for the 500 right?

I have the Piaggio accessory oem windshield and I haven't found anything wrong with it. This is a clear piece in addition to the stock black plastic piece.

Blink7 that Givi windshield is a large one and it needs additional brackets to support it that you didn't install i think

The Ermax is made from a thinner plastic than Givi

Saw this if you are looking for a longer windscreen, it's the Ermax's with very good pricing until the 18th in case anyone is looking.

Ermax Windscreen
I bought the Ermax tall windscreen from Red Racing. I can tell you that Red Racing has terrible customer service. It took a total of 8 months for the screen to arrive. Ordered it in September. After about a month I sent a email asking when I could expect to receive it. They said it was on its way. After another month I had still not received it. I sent another email. They said it will ship out tomorrow, this was in November. They said it would arrive before Christmas. Still nothing at Christmas. Sent another email in January asking for a refund and they flat out ignored my refund request and said the screen was on its way. I said forget it, I want my money back. They quit replying to my emails. I accepted the fact that I had been ripped off. They have no phone number to call.
Then out of the blue it arrived in the mail in April. Never again will I order anything from Red Racing!

On the plus side it did arrive undamaged from Italy to Arkansas even though it was just wrapped in loose cardboard and circled over and over with packing tape. I do think it's the best looking screen for the MP3 500, it really follows the lines of the bike with its flat profile. I'm 6' tall and the wind hits about mid face shield on my helmet. If I slouch a bit the air goes over my head.

That looks like a nice screen and would like to see a front view or a couple more shots.
I recently decided to go back to no screen and have been happy, but it looks pretty nice.
