Thought this was a great pic of this morning's SpaceX abort test of the Crew Dragon Capsule from the Cape. This was an INTENTIONAL failure of the Falcon 9 booster. The purpose was to show that the crew capsule could be jettisoned safely during an anomaly. All went well. The Dragon safely landed in the Atlantic via its new high-tech parachutes. An awesome sight.

Flat light and calm winds made the surface of Mono Lake especially reflective. Took this on the way home to Bishop from Reno, when we dropped off our daughter to go head back to college for her spring semester of her sophomore year at Swarthmore.

On a beautiful false Spring day, I took a little run up the left coast.

Always looking for that perfect spot for a photo.
Found it.

My scooters sit behind my office every day.

No cameras.

I could have left the keys in them for the past 18 years and I would still have every one.

It helps to work in a good neighborhood.

I regularly forgot the key in my BV350 at work. Thieves stole catalytic converters and tailgates, but never got my scoot.

Fantastic shot HoneyBadger. Lovely spot. I’d have been afraid to take my bike on that trail fearing it would get away from me. It has the appearance of a painting rather than photo.

She gets visits from delivery trucks all day. It is so far forward in the bay so 18 wheeler see it while backing up and it's not down in the shadows on bright days that hide it from their mirrors.
If it is raining it is further down the ramp.

Sometimes we get an obscure photo of a launch from the Cape. This was from last night’s Falcon 9 heading to the International Space Station.

What you see is a long exposure of the Falcon 9 showing the booster separation and second stage ignite with resulting plume. Falcon 9 continues on the left while the spent booster is ejected upwards and eventually lands back at the Cape. A very unique photo.

This guy hooked a ride home with me tonight. Stayed with me, even waited while I went to the supermarket.

And two hours later he's still there.

Erm... sorry to split hairs, but that's an ape (bee) not a vespa (wasp)...
and most worker bees are females - the drones are male.

It's still a great photo, though.

I love the composition of your shot David, framing the roof of the house in the arch of the bridge gives real impact. The dry-stone wall construction of the arch reminds me of the characteristic walls that are built without sand or cement by farmers and land owners of the Yorkshire Dales in the UK.

Native to most states in the Union, Prickly Pear cactus flowers in several different colors, producing a fruit that is eaten regularly in parts of Mexico. Even the green pads are eaten, called Nopal or Nopales. I took this out on a ride (in the car) with the SO.

A beautiful picture Syd. It brought back happy memories of my attempts to produce Prickly Pear Juice while living for a short time on St Helena Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. Being semi-tropical, the variety there grew in abundance. Although I handled them with extreme care whilst picking them (using a pair of long handled bbq tongs), I always ended-up with a crop of the very fine glochids (hair needles) stuck in my palms and fingers. The juice was purple in colour and very sweet with a distinctive taste. Whether it was worth the many hours afterwards trying to remove the 'hairs' embedded in my fingers it is doubtful, but it was fun to do and satisfying to make my own fruit juice.
