So now I really am an unlucky pup...

Everything was fine and I cruised home last night....

this morning however I died out on the FREEWAY!!

I don’t know what the hell happened.

I checked…got gas, spark plug cap is on with the connector firmly in, all the basics are accounted for but it’s weird. I started it this morning and it roared to life, everything normal then on the way to work *bbbuurrr* *burr* *brr* - Dead. It sounded and felt like I ran out of gas but there is definitely fuel. I unfortunately left my T Tool at Terry’s place so I couldn’t check the spark plug which may be the culprit. Got some lunch time tinkering to do, hopefully it’ll work.

Only thing I did was clean the head and piston. And lowered the slow jet from 55 to 45. I hopin it's just spark...

I love that you guys enjoy it as much as I do. This must continue!!!
I'm a little pissed that I didn't get any shots of our little stainless steel hot dog grille in a wheelbarrow operation smokin' away. Mmmm
It worked great & we had some GOOOOD dogs, big fat ones. (Thanks Skott for snagging the gourmet weenies)




The Cafe boys did stuff to their bikes too, not exactly sure what.
But they seemed to know what they were doing, cutting & grinding and always put the tools back.




A month ago I showed Skott how to do his front brakes. Here he's showing Josh how to do it.


Grant's all original '74 Rally, I rode his & he rode mine on a 10 minute run.
When mine runs as good still stock as his, I will be VERY happy.

You don't have to take the cable off to clean and adjust the breaks......."OH YA" My bad but hey, you got a chance to tighten and adjust the cable right?!?!?!? most props go to Brent. Thanks guys.

So I got the scoot back to before the tinkering....

Checked out the piston and head with very squinted eyes just hoping for the best and it looks fine. Just the way I put it back together.

I rode home yesterday but it died when I got up the hill and I couldn’t get it back started.

It seems to be running well when it’s cold but heating up too much after riding a bit. Plug isn’t white and I was running rich before so who knows.

This weekend should be fun, hopefully I can tinker my way to a thriving scoot again.

Turns out that twig between the cylinder and the head was the only thing making it run

I remember on Wednesday you were discussing whether it might be running too rich since it was smoking a bit at idle, did you change the mixture/jets or anything like that when you were wrenching on it?

All twig jokes aside, I don't see how the work you did cleaning up the head would cause this issue. Are you sure your plug wire is on the plug well, and that the wire itself is in good condition/not grounding on something?

Puzzling

Checking to see if it's not grounding is an interesting point. I don't get how what I did had any major effect as well that's why I am a little baffled but it's ok, I guess it gives me a chance to check a few things I otherwise wouldn't.

Sorry to hear your p is acting up Scott....

A big thumbs up to Terry for getting us all together ,it is a great thing and I really enjoyed it.

It sounds like maybe we might get together to take a short ride with him before he goes , I'll get on him about it.

Also now we need to find an alternate spot to meet in his absence ....
Brent says he can host , but his space is small and can only accommodate 4 of us or so ... So any ideas ? Any friends with a big garage want to have a bunch of scooter nutz invade every 2 weeks ...

I hope we can keep it going as its a great community event that i really look forwards to.

What was the issue?

It's a mystery to me.

My spark boot kept coming loose before so thought it would be good measure to change the wire and boot, it fired up afterwards but died shortly after.

I then took the carb out but left the float attached to the banjo to check fuel flow and it’s great. I then reattached the carb, and fired her up. Rode around for about 10 minutes with no problems at all.

A complete mystery to me but it ran great yesterday through all rpm ranges after it warmed up a bit. So in all, changed spark plug n boot, deattached the carb and reinstalled it. Magic.

Just ordered my smoked out turn signals, and was offered a shed by a co-worker for a painting booth! I'm ready for some fumes...

We call that PFM in the telecom world!

Any time I can get some Pure F*** Magic I will just look the other way and be happy with the universe. Rode to work today with no problems! Keeping my fingers crossed for the ride home.

My wife had agreed, and was excited, about helping me out with the scooter last night as we needed to get some things sorted before V oodoo left. However; when she got there she stated that she didn't want to get her hands dirty.

On the way home she stated "I'm not sure why you needed me there?" I told her at that point I wasn't sure either, she laughed, I groaned... WE found it funny, later, how the tables have turned.

We have a workshop in the basement with everything from a 21" Craftsman commercial table saw, 10" drill press, and mad amounts of other assorted wood working tools and artist supplies. When I met her (12 years ago) she was all about working with her hands and getting dirty. Now she's working for a HIGH end furniture gallery and can't be bothered with such things.

I love that woman!

I get it. Was a good time regardless, if somewhat abbreviated. AND she was interested in everything you're up to, can't say that about my wife and scooters. Be looking for you sometime this weekend to get your scoot and hopefully ride it all the way home while I'm hovering by the phone.

Looks like I'll be investigating the cause of last nights' lockup. Depending on what I find, I hope to attend. My wife and I have gotten our costumes and everything.

Also btw - I am looking for a 20/20 oil injected carb to use for a test on a P125 I am trying to get going --any one holding one they want to let go or let me use for test ?

I have a 24/24 oil injected if worse comes to worse. Let me know if you want me to bring it.

Would be awesome of you - my scoot keeps fouling plugs and I've tried all different jet set ups ..so I am thinking the carb is borked- Be great to know for sure.
I did get the day off so I will be in attendance ~~
