I'm most of the way through my first resto. Engine is done and running. Bodywork and paint done. I'm trying to rebuild my front fork. I have the axle cover nut off but can't figure out how to get off the nut so I can remove the axle. It's like the fork is smarter than me. Sorry for the dark pics, my buddies garage had no lights in it. Thanks for the help![/img]

Put the hub back on so you have something to hold and stop the axle from turning as you undo the nut.

Thats a glorious link Mr10..well done..why didnt I know about it 4 months ago

Just a bit off topic, but pic 181 shows one of the bar cables going through the bar itself, and Im not sure what side that is? I take it that only happens one side??? Im right at that stage myself on a 76 version

Cheers Kevin

Hi Paddy, thanks, the color is a modern twist (matt nano finish) on an original Rally color, which was only used for on German Rally's

@kevin: thats the front brake cable on the right side. The left side would have the clutch cable goin through.

Thanks for the reply Mr 10. I like the colour, it looks two different shades indoors and out. I have a Douglas Rally to rebuild, but not sure if I am ever going to get round to it your links certainly help though : )

Great pictures!
Can I ask you a question? How did you take off / put back on the dust cover?
I have an issue with the last bolt which is blocked by the dust cover...
