+1

This forum has enriched my life in many ways. Modern Vespa has provided a place to be educated, entertained, amused and occasionally annoyed. Best of all, it's provided an opportunity to met some of the kindest, most generous, amazing, bad-assed scooter riders. My thanks, love and gratitude to Jess and the other MVer's who I am lucky enough to call my friend.

Happy birthday MV! Easily the best forum on the web right now (I may be biased!). Big thanks to Jess and the moderators for keeping it real.
Here's to the next 10!

It occurred to me that I've been around for nearly half MV's lifetime! Wow!

Raising a virtual glass to Jess for giving birth to such an amazing project... and to the mods for helping him raise and care for it properly!

We are truly privileged to have such a fantastic resource at our fingertips. That it is populated and run by such an amazing group of enthusiasts is an incredible bonus.

Thanks, all! What a long, strange trip it's been. From surreptitiously recruiting NapaCoach and others from ScooterBBS to get things rolling, to being unexpectedly pilloried by the vintage community, to meeting some really great life-long friends, MV has changed my life in immeasurable ways.

Thanks are certainly in order for all the dedicated moderators (Steve included!) who have volunteered their time over the last ten years. Without their efforts, Modern Vespa would simply not exist. If you would, please take a moment over the next couple of days to thank a moderator for their service. I think it would be appreciated.

As it happens, I did a little bit of planning for this day. There is, in fact, a 10 year patch, the details of which will be available later today. One hint, though: it was designed by our very own Ironfoot. Stay tuned!

Thank you!

I've met some great people, and will no doubt meet many more.

It also goes without saying that I've learnt a HUGE amount since being a member (And successfully done my first roller change the other day) So not only are thanks in order for Jess and the mods, but to everyone who has contributed to the wiki.

I hope I didn't jump in before anything you were doing, but I do have a history of these virtual birthday cards here.

A favor, if I may ask, since you don't check PMs. We are in the middle of a several week exploration of the US, and I sometimes go a day or two without cell service. As your very first moderator, can I request that you hold a patch for me?

either way, thanks again for the wonderful past ten years!
Steve

[EDIT] I was able to place an order, so no need to hold one, thanks.

Well done Jess. JRSJR recruited me from the BBS after i got the LT i '06. Was a lurker (didn't join right away) for a while Been here for 9 of the 10. Should of joined earlier then i would be closer to the start up date.Napa,Curt and Mike came over to visit years ago. We had a storm and the lights went out island wide. That's a cue to have a BBQ and get drunk Often wonder where people went when they left the forum and how their doing? Thanks for continuing the great forum. It's been a wild ride,eh,Steve? I'd like a patch too. Have fun on your trip.

If we're not having fun, we're not doing it right! We are not coming out your way, but over the last weeks, we were probably within spitting distance of PDX Deborah and @bendcyclist, and undoubtably other members here. Seen many a great scooter road that just isn't the same in an overloaded Outback.

happy birthday MV! and another round of thanks to Jess. This forum has been a fantastic e-home for me, and - to be frank - I think it plays a central role in the maintenance of at least the US scooter community. It provides a town hall for the scattered citizens of scooterdom to gather and remember that there is a broader "us" out there.

well done to the originator and moderators for creating a "safe" and fun environment for hanging out with Scooterists while NOT actually on a scooter

MV is my start page online.

Thanks to Jess and the moderators for creating and keeping one of the best forums on the interwebs.
I've learned a lot from the folks on here over the years, and not just about scooters.
Thank you all.

Totally coincident to it being MV's 10th birthday, it's also our second wedding anniversary, which we both totally forgot until well into the morning!

As we wouldn't have met if MV (and thereby the 2010 Bella Italia Rally) hadn't existed, we both are very grateful that Jess had the idea for this runaway success.

Here's to lots more of Petty Tyranny!

And the moderators as well!! They do a superb job moderating the irate speech that would be on the forum if not moderated. Also appreciate showing the door to repeat offenders of good taste and the forum rules. In almost every case, the mods have given a lot of slack to individuals and threads that seem to come out ok but they are quick to recognize those the bad ones and take action. It must be a very time consuming task. Thanks Mods!!

Best
Miguel

SMorris. I remember you well from Urbanscootin.com as well when I got my first scooter ten or eleven years ago, a Honda Metro. I always appreciated your posts then and was pleased to find you on MV as well. I rarely see you on MV but its always a positive experience. Thanks. And also for starting this thread.
