Evening all! Back again. Need your veteran knowledge on insurance.

Should my LX 125 with 12000 miles '08, purchased for 1150 be what I enter for vehicle value in insurance (they will never pay this amount out to me I would think!) I'm thinking they would pay 700 max so what do I do here?

Additional Security (does the immobiliser here count as factory fitted security)? I also got a kryptonite lock with the bike and have an ASUS d lock I used for bicycle?

With an excess of 500 is it worth third party fire and theft!?

NOTE: I've already taken a policy with the above out that came to 560, I was 24 at the time (9 days ago) I'm now 25 and thinking about cancelling and going elsewhere/amending the data I put such as mileage also, I was in a rush to scoot off on the day!

Your advice will be much appreciated - I will also ping some photos up in due course!!

Cheers guys.

I think you got shafted. Being under 25 myself I pay ridiculous amounts of money for insurance. But I also know that if I were to cancel my policy so close to starting it they would charge me a ridiculous amount of money.

But again, I'm only 20 so I have very very little experience.

Woah, in 19 and pay less for fully comp.

Just renewed mine for 388 with excess protection.

Anyhow to answer your questions,

The blue book value is what the insurers will pay, so if you can find an accurate guide then price it at said price, don't know the current market value for an 08 lx myself though! Its worth more than 700 though.

And yes the immobiliser counts as factory fitted security, though its not too secure.

Shop around for some more quotes, you seem to be paying a little too much! Obviously it depends on your area/history but where I live isn't exactly full of respectable people;')

London so prices for vespa insurance will be higher

also ive found if you add security it has to be used every time if not and the bike gets nicked they will pay less

ive always insured for what I paid for scoots this shouldn't have any issues with the price within reason

this year I paid 76 fully comp with ride other bikes on the policy on my 400

but I'm 37 live in a village and keep it in a garage over night

Try Bennetts Insurance. I have a GT 125 and pay 23/mth for fully comprehensive insurance which includes Breakdown and cover for my riding clothes, gloves and helmet.

Lemur no worries. I always see where people are from after doing the same thing a few times. Some people don't put where their from, sometimes you don't know.

Mine is 800 fully comp

23, 4 non-fault crashes in 2 years, garaged, live on an estate.

One upside is my accessories are covered too.

Cheers for all responses!

800 sounds ridiculous though!! Do you have any issues if it's insured as garaged and it's nicked overnight for e.g. if you're staying at the Mrs?

I think my next purchase will be a disk lock/alarm, don't know how else to stop this beauty getting nicked.

The garage aspect is only applicable at home, or the place the vehicle will be kept majority of the time stored.

Regarding security, have a look at anti pinch pin and a pragmasis chain (I have the 2metre 16mm chain) plus a torc ground permanently in the garage. I'll post some pics in a second.
