My wife and I are taking a trip on our scooters this weekend. We are riding from the Oklahoma City area to the Wichita Mountains in SW Oklahoma. I know it's not really all that far at about 130 miles one way. We've ridden more miles in a day than that before, but we've never ridden to anywhere that far away from home. I'm hoping this will be the first of many trips.

Fun times!
Should make for a memorable husband-wife weekend. We do do the same and have some very nice trips to daydream about. Enjoy yourselves and take your time...its all about the journey.

Enjoy!! My boyfriend and I love riding together. We do so every chance we get. We also just went on our first "longer" ride this week - about 169 miles. We took our time, stopped for a leisurely lunch and had a great ride. Take some pics and let us know how it went. Stay safe!

I rode with a guy this weekend at a group ride that had that same Buddy 150. It's a nice looking bike.
Thanks for sharing pictures. |

I've been riding a little under 2 years and my wife has been riding about 6 months less than that. I've had many days where I've ridden 100-150 miles in a with several stops and riding all day, but never more than about 50 miles from home. This was the first time I actually rode somewhere that far away from home (130 miles) and stayed overnight.
I would say the most important things, other than making sure your bike is ready for the road, are to stay hydrated and rest when you need to. On the way there we made one stop about halfway there to top off with fuel, drink some water, and rest for about 10 minutes. On the way back we left later in the day after several hours of hiking so it was warmer out and we were tired. We stopped 3 times to re-hydrate and rest for a couple minutes. Most of our riding was done on 2-lane state highways with a speed limit of 55-65. We were able to maintain 50-55 most of the way. Luckily the interstate wasn't too far away, so that kept traffic down on the roads we used. Just take your time and enjoy it, otherwise why ride a scooter at all?

Sandy and I have rode down there four times this year on our mp3. Never have stayed the night. We rode down there last week, about 190 miles round trip from Norman. We also take the back roads. Looks like you ate at Meer's. Nice pictures, We have been down there so many times over the last 70 years we hardly take any pictures any more, It is as nice down there as your pictures make it look. We have also been to Davis and Sulphur many times, if you go there stop at Smokings Joe's for BBQ. Its on the East side of I-35 South side of the hwy going into Davis, Right after you cross I-35 and the River

Nice to see pictures of OK. I keep thinking it was all flat! I did notice that my tolerance for riding is about an hour needing a butt break and that endurance time decreased on a long trip.
