Eek. I did it. I bought a Honda CTX700. Hubby and I sat on one a couple of weeks ago and loved it. We have been casually discussing it since then but I didn't think Hubby was really serious about it. I liked how it is an automatic transmission and the bike feels really lightweight when I sat on it. Most bikes feel really heavy to me, but the CTX has a low center of gravity that it doesn't feel heavy.

So we went to our local motorcycle dealership because we were looking for Rok straps. While I was looking for the straps, unbeknownst to me, the Hubby told the sales guy that if he had a fully kitted out CTX700 with a DCT he would have made a sale today. The sales guy told him that he would find us one. We figured he wouldn't be able to. Imagine our surprise when he said he found one and could get it there in 2 hours.

So mine doesn't have all the accessories I want, yet. They are on order. But here is a picture of our daughter pretending it is her bike.

I'm keeping Rosie, because you can't ride motorcycles in the rain. Or at least that is what the unwritten rule when you look at the parking lot at work when rain is forecasted.

I am looking for a good Italian boys name for the new bike. I know it is Japanese. But I only speak 4 languages. English, Sarcasm, Profanity, and Vespa.

I'm leaning towards Ramone or Roberto.

I work with a Vinny. Two actually. One goes by Vinny, one by Vincent. I also work with a Ricardo. Live next to Rico. And one of my cousins is Raphael. So all those names are out.

Congrats on your new addition to the family!!

You will love the CTX DCT, very low center of gravity as you already discovered and it gets great gas mileage. On my NC700X DCT I get 72 miles per gallon riding a combination of sport and drive (touring) mode.

Have fun and ride safely.

Your husbands fault eh? Well, I hope you make him pay for this horrible thing he did to you. (I blamed my wife for the Burgman I got three weeks ago). Looks like a nice bike. Give us a review in a few weeks when you get some time on it, I'm curious to hear your opinion as those bikes interest me a bit. How about Guido?

Romeo!!! It is close enough to Ramone, and is Italian in origin!

Congratulations and that is exciting to have another PTW in the stable and ride which ever you fancy on the particular day!

Congratulations!!
The automatics are not available in Canada yet. It's the bike my wife wants.
Test rode the manual and loved the ride.

Soichiro

Call him Soi for short.

Really confuse people: "Soi Capitan" (think La Bamba)

Nice bike. I got the NC700X in September and enjoy how it complements the Granturismo and Malaguti. It is not the CTX, but the same engine. I went with the manual and like it. It is the most economical bike I have, except for my bicycle.

Unfortunately Honda Canada has no plans on releasing the CTX700 DCT or the NC700X DCT in Canada for the fore-seeable future. However they do plan to release the NM4 in 2015.

Can you buy one in the US and bring it back across the border? Like all the Americans do with codeine aspirin and other prescription meds from Canada.

I'm working on it. Even with the Canadian import taxes etc it's still cheaper to buy from the US

ABS?
SuperK2-

Knowing full well you are in midst of rehabbing right now. But, let me ask, you (or, Husband's opinion), about the CTX700, DCT. OK?

Assuming, husband has been riding it? If so, his opinions/thoughts/likes/dislikes?

BTW, does this new toy, also, have ABS? Do you feel it is worthy of a long distance trip?

Aside of my Vespa, I have two MC's - BMW and HD, which I may consider moving for the right scoot or MC. For me, the most important part is how I sit and am comfortable as I sit. I am old, I am tired, I want to be comfortable.

On the BMW (liquid cooled), I sit more like a cafe racer with foot pegs behind, which is an uncomfortable body position; though on the HD, I sit upright, but, my thighs get hot (air cooled). At my age, I do not need more heat than my body produces, day or night.

Dear one and I plan to go to check out the Honda, but, wanted, a few thoughts/opinions as you have had it a few months. OK, you may not have been on it much (at all) but insight from your dear one?

Hope healing is going well and on target?

How is Child, now many months after the accident?

Peace and Blessings!
