![]() I just wanna resurrect this thread to give a solid “Thank you”. Almost 3 years ago I was browsing through the forum when the name of this thread caught my eye. Then the thought crossed my mind that I should draw a Vespa, or st least the logo, on an Etch A Sketch. That was exactly the little 🔥 I needed to pick up my all but forgotten artistic ambitions. Happy to say that I haven’t put the Etch a Sketch down since. In fact, I’m paying for my new (well, to me) 2015 GTS Super with the money from the sale of my 3 most recent drawings. (One of which was commissioned by Warner Music UK and purchased by none other than Muse’s Matt Bellamy- I’m having it sent off to the other side of the pond on Monday.) So again, thank you all for the inspiration to get my butt drawing again. Not to mention the quality of the work here is absolutely stunning.

![]() This is a great thread with so many great sketches and drawings. Ironfoot, I’m assuming your are a professional illustrator/artist?

But the thread's open to all-comers: old hands and newbies and everyone inbetween. Variety is what makes it tick along, and we never get tired of looking at pictures of scooters, right? ![]() |

![]() ok, last one!
This is another portfolio piece. Beginning with a rough sketch, then re-drawing in vector art, and finally working over in traditional style lineart. ![]() It became a badge at first. Focussing on just the rider and the handlebars... ![]() More recently I got around to extending the main illustration. I finished up the scene in full linework, adding the scooter, road and landscape. Turned out pretty good. ![]()

![]() Not an actual drawing, but you could call it art. My first lithophane print, on my 3d printer. Just add light behind it...

![]() Here's some new scooter artwork from me celebrating the smallframe Vespas. T-shirts with this design are up in the DoubleGood collection at Redbubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/DoubleGood/portfolio
The drawing here is based on the original Vespa Primavera 125. There aren't any sketches to show this time, I approached it more like a technical drawing and drew it directly in vector lines. ![]() finished piece: ![]() -- ![]()

![]() ^^^ That's lovely work.
I don't do so much paper drawing these days. For digital drawing I have an early Wacom graphics tablet. Sometimes there's a certain sense of disconnection between making the marks on the tablet and the lines appearing on the monitor. I imagine that drawing directly on the display, with a device like the Cintiq or iPad Pro, might feel more natural. |
