I moved to the coast and within 6 months my scooter is rusting in places it did not in 4 previous years. I hate this salt air.

Is there a "clear coat" or something you can treat a scoot with to combat this? I am getting ready to buy a new scooter. I am thinking of keeping it in the house(I have a garage now, but climate control would help).

There is an anti corrosion stuff from WD-40 I put on my bits this fall. I noticed the white spots showing up on things. I painted it on instead of just spraying it everywhere. It does pick up road shmutz though since its pretty much oil.

clean the corrosion off first and make sure the metal is clean, then apply.

I keep my ride clean, but being near the ocean(with a house on the sound) the rust creeps up on you. The chrome goes first...........

I'll get that stuff you recommended.

Rust Never Sleeps.

I've been lucky here at the very southern end of the NC Coast. I seldom ride in the wet. Scrapes and scratches are cleaned and immediately coated with clear nail polish. Wash, dry, and wax every 4-5 weeks.

I also swear by Autosol, will get rid of any surface rust on your chrome and protects it at the same time

I live 2 blocks from the beach and get the trade winds with salt spray under my condo (on stilts). Have a Rubber Maid shed he stays in. Always clean him when he's wet after a ride. Keep a good coat of wax on him. I use this stuff Quick Glo (bought on Amazon from Jay Leno's garage). First i take coke and clean the rusted bits. Then i use this stuff. When done i apply a bunch of wax. No rust, even underneath. He'll be 9 in July. Looks new. Good luck.

Another fan of ACF50 here. I use it in the NY winters on my dual sport. Works great.
