I posted a little while ago about how my px150 was not shifting into first gear no matter what but after tuning it up for the riding season (cable lubing, oil change, cable adjustments, inspection and so forth) it still does not want to go into first!! It will go into 2,3,4 perfect fine but first is very stubborn, almost impossible to get in. No tied up cables in headset, no dry cables, I just don't get it. What else could it be? My guess is something to do with the selector box maybe or I hope not inside the engine. Any feedback would be appreciated thanks!!

Does it still not want to shift into 1st with the selector box cover removed? Maybe the ends of the cables or the pinch cable clamps are hanging up on the selector box cover?

Can you physically move the handlebars into 1st? i.e. does the 1 line up with the dot? Asking because on newer models that have the mirrors mounted inside the headset, the mirror stem can rub on the tube inside the headset and prevent it from rotating.

in addition to the suggestions above.. are you sure you have sufficient slack in the outer gear cable? If it's too tight you won't be able to pull the batwing into 1st gear.

You can try screwing the cable adjuster for that cable IN (clockwise) to give it a little slack and try again.

I may have it backwards but if the selector shaft unscrews from the cross it can be hard to hit some gears

I haven't removed the mirrors, that never actually came to mind but I will give that a try later on and see if there is a change. Also the selector cables have been adjusted to the right amount of slack so there's no issue in regards to that.

With the scoot on a stand, if you unhook the cables totally from the shift quadrant, can you spin the wheel and turn the selector by hand to engage first?
