I found a previously unconsidered downside to the all-DC electrical system last night. I seem to have a short to ground in my right turn signal wiring, so whenever the signal is on, the entire electrical system, including head & tail lights, go dark.

So are you saying that if you were AC then the short wouldn't have that effect?

Had a flat tire today on Sweet P. Fortunately happened a block from home, pic is to show the 5ft paint job I did a few weeks ago. Rocking the bald spare on front for now until I can find that new inner tube. Still have to polish the aluminum leg shield trim and what Iíve done so far is looking better then I thought it would

Correct. The headlight would be on the AC circuit and the DC side would be flashing, so it would cause the tail & brake lights to flash, but not the headlight.

Scored a crusty old tractor light at an estate sale for $2. Think I'll mount it on the rat bike I'm planning on building out of my salvaged parts.

That's along the lines of what i was thinkin. Dunno bout the hi/low... Maybe... It's got a lil twisty switch on it... Dont have a batt to test it on...

It probably doesn't have a hi/lo, but it would probably be pretty simple to replace the mounting housing with a BA20D, which is the standard Vespa headlight socket. Run some fresh wires, which it looks like it needs anyway, and you're golden.

Should've taken it, set fire to it and watched it burn. It's mostly plastic so wouldn't be much left afterwards.

Oops... naughty me...
Me partners birthday is next Wed, & I happened to be looking for a photo of something Vespa on eBay for a post here... my search took me to Vespa SCOOTERS rather than Vespa PARTS & I saw this... This was after refraining from looking at eBay since my job finished up... Timing huh?

Too good to pass it up, so now Iíve got here something she will kill me for buying (my job finished up a month or so back, therefore funds are becoming slim... but, she did say she wanted red with white polka dots (after seeing one in Pontedera), & well, now she has one.
Somehow I was quicker than everyone else in clicking the "buy it now" button, stuff trying to make an offer , as I only beat a couple of them by a minute or so.

Note to those playing overseas ; NEW they are $7600

amateur foundry
Very nice pattern work Patrick and similar to the injector body we have been working on here in Greece. Have you got a foundry lined up?

We are now working on a competition throttle pulley that looks a lot like a Vespa shift pulley because it uses 2 cables, one to pull it open the throttle and the second to close it if the return spring breaks. We are 3D printing the patterns from a special 'wax' filament and will investment cast in plaster molds.

today I witnessed an urban myth
Hello. I have been altering things in my Carburetor. I left the idle a bit rich.
Today I started from cold. It ran like a diesel.

I pull away and went backwards. Later on it did it again. I ran indoors to get a witness but I stalled it pulling away so no-one will believe me.
