Following an extended period of being non-garaged in a British winter my MP3 250 ie won't start. The fault seems to be corrosion inside the starter button. There doesn't seem to be any damage elsewhere.

Is this component easy to replace? I noticed that there seem to be a small number of screws which hold the button panel onto the rest of the bike - can I just swap out the button or do I need to replace the entire button panel, or can repair this switch?

The button panel looks like this:

Is this easily fixable or might I have to get it to a dealer? Can anybody advise me as to which part(s) I need to buy to make this work?

very easy to gain access. just undo the screws underneath and the switch will push out once the tabs either side are pressed in.

Very easy, maybe 15 mins to change.
There are a few on ebay right now, but for the price they are asking... You can get a new one for a few bucks more. Always buy two and have a spare...

What do I search for?

The chassis number prefix is ZAPM47201.

I found this:
https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/view/641609

Does that seem to be the right part?

Replacing the starter button was simple, but now I have a new problem. When I turned the ignition the bike went into some kind of alarm mode - repeatedly sounding the horn. The ignition and all other controls were unresponsive.

How can I fix this? Unfortunately the red-handled service key has been lost so I need a solution that will work with a normal key.

Have you tested your battery

And the level of your roll lock liquid

I didn't test the battery level - and I have no idea how to test the roll-lock liquid (or even that it was a real thing!).

I will have a go at starting the bike with an extra battery connected.

Are there any instructions online for checking and replenishing the roll-lock fluid? I'd like to know in case the problem is not battery related.

Also - I wanted to clarify that the noise is a repeating horn-honk, not a beep. Each horn sound is about 1s followed by 1s of silence and then another sound. The screen displays no obvious error message and all the indicator lights seem to be on.
