Note: Will be attempting to pre-ride the routes, and will consider changing them if conditions along the way are sketchy.
Are the photos from the proposed route? It looks great!
89 miles. Sam and I could probably do that one in an hour and a half. plus time to stop at a cool little Wisconsin pub.

Too bad he will be living in Colorado by then. But I am going to try to come anyway.

Sully! I will probably need a scooter.
It's yours for the riding!

Thank you, Robert. I would enjoy riding up, and might if I have time. But knowing I can borrow your fine scoot makes it work for me.

My wife and I are hoping to attend this. Not sure yet if we would stay at the White House, or most likely we will camp at Alana Springs Campground ( we've camped there many times in the past).

Great!

Just a reminder for everyone here, that if you'll be riding, I'll want contact info to keep everyone abreast of updates, preferably email and text. Not everyone is an MVer (for shame....). As we get closer, I'll send out more details, as well as last-minute updates.

Excellent! Just so happens I may have two spare scooters.

Oh, and Dave, are routes finalized? Thinking of doing an overnighter to pre-ride.

Yeah, pretty much. Lets see if I can find the links. There may be some iffy points, but 95% done....unless, of course we find gravel in advance.

This is broken into segments to please the Google gods, but pretty much the routes. Elephant rock is a short Sunday morning ride for anyone not saturated with riding.

Routes: Rockbridge: https://goo.gl/maps/jPkbvRoyc7L2 2.5 hours, 90 miles

Muscoda/Boscobel: https://goo.gl/maps/cTZknndJUf62 2.5 hours, 92 miles

Prairie du Chien loop: https://goo.gl/maps/f7xvM6FdRNo 1.5 hours 50 miles

Elephant Rock route: https://goo.gl/maps/mTXVZci61eL2 1/2 hour, 20 miles

BTW, entertaining Mr. and Mrs. wmak tonight on their way to AV. Warren might consider joining us. Would be a great addition.

By looking at the google routes (and they all look like fun rides!), it got me wondering. From the hotel in richland center, is that where the rides all start, or does each ride start out at a meeting point on that particular route as mapped?

All rides will start from the hotel. The maps are sort of in pieces as Google doesn't like extended tweaking. Saturday's ride will have a shorter option for those who don't want to ride all the way to Prairie du Chien.

I just put what I have at the moment for inspiration. Tweaking is still possible.

Hope that helps.

I just discovered Ride with GPS (https://ridewithgps.com/). I find it works much better than Google or anything else I've tried for planning routes. I find I don't need to break rides down into segments. I installed bluetooth speakers in my helmet and can get audible turn-by-turn directions this way.

Well, since my wife wont be coming along on this trip, tonight I booked a room at " the White House". I think the girl said they just have 5 rooms left. I am glad I didn't wait much longer to book, I am pretty sure they will sell out of rooms. Looking forward to the Wisconscoot rides!

I'm pretty sure I'll be there again this year. And I'll probably be camping, like I did last year, too.

Is anyone else planning on braving the elements?

I just booked Friday and Saturday nights at the White House (I don't get it as the hotel has a big dome, so it should be called the Capitol)

I still need to confirm it with Sam, but I think that we will be coming.

Probably riding Rocket up.

Yeah, it does seem like a bit too much anyway. I failed to see much of a resemblance. Hope they have a better time holding on to staff at any rate.

Whoa! Epic. You'll deserve a prize.

Seems there might be an extra loose GTS around then.

No prize needed here.
As for the free GTS, Rocket is old. Keep your fingers crossed that the old scoot (new engine) can make it.

I saw Sam this weekend in Nashville.

We are still planning to come. Room booked.

The plan has us riding from Chicago to Richland center on Friday morning, probably arriving well before lunch.

Then head back on Sunday afternoon.

It all depends on my scooter, hopefully Rocket, holding up along the way. It should be good.

Thank you. New belt, rollers, oil, exhaust gasket and tires should make Rocket good for the long ride. Razzo could come with only a belt. I will decide. But should I get stranded, I may need a spare.

Wisconscoot 2017
Dave, Sully and Crew,

As usual, I will be arriving Thursday on my Dragon Red Vespa 300.
I will be out front,Thursday night, smoking a Sancho Panza Cigar and
sipping a brandy to greet any early arrivals.

Dave has picked a super area to ride through. My Minn-Max riding
group home based our extended ride at the same hotel about 6
years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, it was the best hotel
facility in town.

Looking forward to seeing all you scooter aficionados.

Awesome. Thanks for being the unofficial greeter and mosquito fogger!

Wish I could get there earlier to chill a bit, but life is still complicated.

Sam and I will ride up from Chicago on Friday morning.

He says it is best to leave Chicago early, like 5:00 AM to beat the traffic.

It is just over 200 miles, so probably arriving by 9:00 depending on stops.

Two weeks out....
Hi all,

Hard to believe, but we're just two weeks out for the ride. It would be helpful to have a roster of who's coming.

At this point AFAIK we have....
From Minneapolis: JKJ, Copeland, Greiner, Oakwood Joe.
S.E. Wisconsin: gitder, Madison Sully, LuckyScroller, fledermaus
Also expecting wmak and Leuthold. Pretty sure RussBees is in.

Hurricanebob, Slashy and CubsKing were interested but not sure at this time....so let me know soon what your thoughts are.

If you have to drop out for any reason, or conversely, if there's someone that I missed, let me know. In case you can't meet us at the beginning of the ride, we should be able to arrange a rendezvous point to catch up with us.

If you are coming, I'd urge you to have my cell# (texts probably best) for last minute issues, late arrivals and such. P.M. me if you don't have it. I do have my handy-dandy Sena working, so (assuming you can get a cell signal out there) it might be possible to contact me en route. Also having your number is handy if there's any last-minute changes. For everyone who's ridden with us before, you're already good to go.

We'll have to see about my family riding. As my daughter's just starting school, not sure we're wanting to pull her out for a day. Likely they'll be around for the weekend at any rate. Not sure if Gaby will ride or not as Saturday's distance of >100 miles seems daunting to her.

Hope the weather holds. It's been unusually cool so far, so (especially for you Southerners (Iowa??)), bring warm stuff.

Friday afternoon's ride will start at 1:00 or a tad later. If you can be there, we will meet at the Country Kitchen attached to the hotel for lunch.

Look forward to seeing all of you!

Dave

Great!

Yeah, that hurricane's a bit of a wild card right now.

If its going to be close, please keep me updated. I could hold off the rowdy bunch for a bit so you don't miss us. OTOH, I can only yodel for so long until my voice wears out.

Other option is to figure out where you might intercept us. I'll have a look at the route to see.
