I start to get weepy when Forrest Gump begins running across America.

Maybe corny, maybe not.
I had never been to New York City until a work trip put me there. I made my way through Manhattan to the park near the Staten Island Ferry terminal. I saw her and cried. I finally got to see the Statue of Liberty in person. So many people risk their lives to come live in the USA, and I've seen some who died in the attempt. Always grateful for the American birthright.

At the end of the fight scene at the end of the original Rocky movie, he's standing in the ring crying out "Adrian" over and over again.... it gets me every time.
Yes, I watched the clip to make sure it was from the same movie, and yes, I cried. And don't worry Mocker.... you're far from the only one who's incredibly attached to their animal. I have a little chihuahua mix that's my "velcro buddy", and even though I'm married, I feel a closeness with this dog that I don't feel with my wife or my kids. Or any of the other dogs I've had over the past years. |

I'm a big fan of Warner Brothers Loony Toons and Merrie Melodies cartoons in general and particularly the work of Chuck Jones. He is my role model. Everyone knows How the Grinch stole Christmas! and Horton Hears a Who. Some of his other works I like are Feed he Kitty, What's Opera Doc and my all time favorite One Froggy Evening. The one where a construction worker finds a singing frog in a time capsule but it won't sing for anyone else. Steven Spielberg said that you will never find a more perfect example of film making or story telling. I couldn't have said it better. He created the characters Wile E. Coyote, The Road Runner, Claude Cat, Michigan J Frog, Marvin the Martian, Pepe LePew, Taz, the Tasmanian Devil and many others. He won an Oscar for The Dot and the Line, a Love Story in Lower Mathematics. I often think I'm like The Road Runner but in actuality I'm probably more like Wile E Coyote.

I first came here in the 70's. My friend and i did a cross country trip and when we were in SF she wanted to go to Death Valley and i figured since i was "close" to Hawaii i'd go there. So off we went. Got off the plane and nobody gave me a LEI. In the movies and on TV shows everybody got a Lei when they got off the plane but not me. Didn't realize you had to know somebody to get one.

As a child my family would fart and then comment about a barking spider being around. This caused me to believe that barking spiders were an actual spider until I was 18.
I was staying with my aunt for a month in North Carolina. I said I had heard some weird noises around the factory they own and asked if they were the real barking spiders. She clarified that they are just a fart and not "real." I still get laughed at for it. |

I think this has morphed into a Pop Tart thread. My food obsession is still potato chips or "crisps" as they call them across the pond. Utz makes a crab chip covered in Old Bay seasoning that makes me get emotional.

Combining this with a couple of other ongoing threads, I must admit that I get a little weepy every time I see someone take in a neglected GT and repair it to road worthy condition.
