I've recently noticed that the ignition switch on my 2006 lx150 has gotten loose. When I put in the key and turn the ignition on, it will turn off if it gets wiggled. Twice tonight it turned off the engine while I was riding. It's also possible to wiggle it by hand when I first turn it on and the lights and ignition cut out. Is it a major PITA to repalce the switch? I'm assuming I can remove my cylinder and put it in the new switch. Where does the immobilizer live? Do i need to worry about it if I replace the switch?
Thanks,
Jason

It's actually pretty easy. There is a part at the back of the switch that is plastic and when it goes bad it does exactly what you are describing. Remove the horncover in front of the bike and you will see it. There is a clip holding the plastic switch in place. You pull out a clip, remove it, unplug it, and install the new one.
It's part 643133, and here's what it looks like:

It's about twenty or thirty minutes and is easier with a set of needle nose pliers.

Motovista, I can't thank you enough. That was exactly what I needed. The part is dirt cheap and I think the replacement will be easy. And having the link right to the part I need made it a breeze.
Thanks again,
Jason

Ignition problem
Hi there, I am having a similar problem...my scooter is not starting, after some trouble shooting, I found that I have to hold the key hard to the right before I get power and am able to start it, when I let the key go the scooter dies again. Is this something that a new ignition switch will fix?

Almost certainly. They are so cheap that it's a no-brainer to change it out.

installing switch
okay...so I ordered the switch...removed the horn cover...took out the old switch...plugged in the new one...couldn't figure out how to put the clip back on so I just held it in place and turned the ignition...nothing happened..no lights, etc..is there a trick to lining up the switch with the cylinder and putting the clip on..?

Could someone please show me a picture of the wiring into the back of the switch or tell me which wires go which way around etc. I have been left with one and not sure how the wires go in as didn't see them before
