If you look over my sister-in-law's shoulder on this picture you'll see that it appears that Florentines like the tall windscreens! This was taken during dinner in Florence at an outdoor cafe in the summer of '04. I just noticed it now.

What got my attention was how gray they are. I wonder if it's because of the polution!

Does your sister in law sell glasses? For some reason they were the first things I noticed, even before the scooters LOL

Actually, it was part of a humorous string of pictures. My nephew bought them from a street vendor and we all took turns wearing them.

(note me wearing them at the same cafe)

They look like good eye protection for scooter riding.

My wife and I did the Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan trip 3 years ago. The first 5 days were spent in Rome, and I don't think she bought a thing. Five minutes off the train in Florence and she had 2 pairs of shoes, new sunglasses and 3 leather purses. I don't know what happened, but we were shipping stuff home every other day! Got off easier in Venice as she wasn't into the Murano glass that much, and thankfully our 2 days in Milan were a Sunday and Monday when most of the designer boutiques were closed. Whewww!!!

I think they're dirty. either it's dust or just lot sof water dried leaving marks. It's say it's dust, in combination with not cleaning them.

Aah, holiday in Italy... On a terras, with some wine, good company,... Dam I wish it was summer already.

Florence was one of my favorite cities when I did the Eurail thing back in 1981 after graduating college. I took a whole series of photos of Michelangelo's David. Usually it's only depicted from the front or side view. What a butt on him!! Alas, I thought I had scanned them but can't find the photos anywhere in my hard drive or I'd post them here and now. I don't have my scanner hooked up right now so I'm not going to go through that effort now. Found a site with one though:

Here's the actual museum site:

I love the Internet. Enjoy!
