A picture from my recent Lands End > John O'Groats trip.

This is at Clachtoll Beach Campsite which was great, would 100% stay there again.

This one is just before Applecross Pass. Another highly recommended road with the fantastic town of Applecross on the other side. Great campsite and amazing pub with lovely food.

Awesome looking countryside, tell us about the trip. It's a decent distance to be traveling in a single trip.

That's pretty much the exact route we took, a chap called Nathan Millward put an open invite out for all who wanted to join him on the first ever Garbage Run (and possibly only ever Garbage Run).

Started off at around 32 bikes/scooters etc and I think nearly the same amount ended up making it to the top. We hugged the coast as much as we could and avoided motorways apart from one of the days where we all agreed due to being wet we'd make up some time.

The first night we stayed at one of the participants' farms and cause of the rain nearly everyone decided to sleep in their barn! The fourth night we stayed at Haggs Bank in Alston. It's a bunkhouse/campsite and has drying rooms, showers, kitchen etc. Everything you could want especially if travelling by motorbike. A top chap called Danny and his wife run it and they're fantastic hosts!

The highlight for me personally was the 6th day/night as we went over Glencoe and the Applecross pass and camped in Applecross. A pub in town serves beautiful food right by the water where you can watch the sunset!

We didn't actually stay in Durness on the 7th night but a little farther back at Clachtoll Beach. Another beautiful place and a great campsite.

This is all of us at the top.

A rough guess is around 2,300 miles from home > lands end > john o'groats > home.

More of my photos are here: http://wilamu.uk/project/the-garbage-run-2017/

There is also a video on there that another participant made.

A nice write up on the trip was done by Nathan Millward: https://goo.gl/24BSWT

It would be fun to do a similar trip next year with more Vespas!

Thanks I need to sell my KTM now and get myself a GTS 300!

I pulled this straight from Wikipedia
"Kiwi is the nickname used internationally for people from New Zealand, as well as being a relatively common self-reference. The name derives from the kiwi, a flightless bird, which is native to, and the national symbol of, New Zealand."
