I know you're off to America on Fri but I'm starting my little mini museum tour tomorrow. Going to Beaulieu Motor museum around lunch time tomorrow. Then off to Bovington Tank museum on Thurs, Etches Collection Fri. If you're free then it would be great to see you again. I'll PM you my mobile just in case you're free.

Sure!

Long story, Short. I had to take family to the theatre in central London, and so my girlfriend and I decided to go to pizza hut whilst waiting around. When we got there, there wasnít any wheelchair access for me, and basically The manager came out offering to carry me down the stairs

He was even puzzled when I asked who would get me out if there was a fire...

Edit: Hope youíre okay mate!

Wouldn't it of been easier just picking a restaurant that did have the access you needed? There are plenty of restaurants on every street in London.

Restaurants have an option? In the US no Handicap access, not open for business

The Data Center company I work for bought a business that went in to bankruptcy because they didn't have handicap access to 2nd floor of the Tech office area and didn't have the money to install one. Not one person in the company needed it, but it was required.

We bought them and $8,000 later a lift was installed.

Businesses in the UK are required to make reasonable adjustments in order to cater for disabled people.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-courts/discrimination/what-are-the-different-types-of-discrimination/duty-to-make-reasonable-adjustments-for-disabled-people/

It's very much not black and white that they must do everything which is, IMO, the correct approach.

There are so many older buildings here where changes would be huge and very expensive so we regularly get court cases to decide what's actually reasonable. They take into the nature of the building and business, costs, number of likely users of the adjustment and so on.

This one made the news earlier in the year.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-44210683

Should a theme park be forced to pay £40000 or £350 a day to provide a toilet with specialised lifting equipment for what could only be a couple of visitors a year?

Closer to the other end of the scale there's wheelchair access into restaurants which is normally seen as reasonable, so it has to be addressed at the time of any substantial refurbishment to a building.

Sounds like a very American thing to do. I was under the impression that is much less common in the UK.

Usually itís what you call someone after going out of your way to be offensive and trying to provoke a reaction, if they say anything in return. Itís often accompanied by a load of jumping around and wittering on about them being ďtriggeredĒ.

Iím well aware of how it was originally intended, but itís far more frequently used as an insult for anyone who reacts to *any* amount of provocation. Look at any Facebook article about politics and you will see it being chucked around like confetti for an example of this.

Oddly enough, just watched a film called Snowflake. I don't think this is connected in any way though. This one was a German film about a screenwriter writing a story on revenge where all the characters come to life around him. One of those multilayered stories, a bit like Inception or Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, but this one was a bit gruesome at times. Good film if you get the chance and you don't mind subtitles.

We did Italian Day in Bedford years ago and there are 2 options this year.. one in the main town (Sun 21 July), and the car, scoot and bike event at Sharnbrook (Sun 23 June) as we did before.

There's also the 'on hold' option of the Dads Army museum around Thetford that was looked at but not nailed (open summer weekends I think..)
