Hey all!

Hope you're all doing well..

If anyone fancies a run to the coast, with fish & chips, sunshine and Skok banter, a few of us are riding to the annual Mods & Rockers ride to Hunstanton (sunny Hunny) on the Norfolk coast on Sunday 29 Sept. Riders take over the Green in the town and it's generally a reet good day. Maybe we can tempt some London Skoks to come on over...

Cheers all,

Paul

Paul, I'm busy that day or I would - it's been too long. Hope the weather's lovely!

Robin - my partner and I agreed we'd take it very easy on the Ring and stick to the right-hand side throughout. He complained afterwards that I'd been faster on the open road that day than I was on the track. Well, the open road was less scary!

Goodwood
Hi guys had a really fab day out at Goodwood Revival vintage motor rally. Held near Chichester Southern England. Fantastic weather, and brilliant cars, motorbikes [ Danny Pedrosa, and Marquez racing that day] and displays including 250 World War 2 American army vehicles including a Sherman tank on a transporter.
The whole 3-day event has about 60, 000 per day and thousands of participators and crew. As usual Everyone, repeat Everyone dresses to match a vintage style from the first motoring to the 1960s. As a scooter guy, I went 60s style, circa 1964..smart-casual... Lots of great outfits, displays, happenings, music, fun-fairs and food as well as the pits and car displays. There's also vintage aeroplanes as well. If any of you are into motors, this is the best event in the world, for display and fun. Get there if you can. Check it out on websites you'll see what I mean.

We should coordinate.

In a couple of years most of the rest of our cats should have signed off - then we want to DO EUROPE. That includes an in depth tour of the UK - from Kent to Wales to Yorkshire to the Scottish Highlands - and then Ireland as well.

That should take four or five weeks.

New Scooter
So I took the plunge and finally managed to buy a new scooter.
After much deliberation, some done on MV, I went for a Kymco AK550.
I love it! Despite it being a cheaper rip off of a TMax......

Tics
Is it still a rip off if the rip off is actually better than the original ?

Cheaper and better I'd say.

Yes it is.
Whether it is better or not is down to individual taste. I plumped for the Ak after a very disappointing visit to a Vespa dealer and a Yamaha dealer. For pure riding pleasure the Vespa was the smoothest, for comfort and commuting usability the TMAX slightly edges out the AK but one has to get the top of the range DX model to have all the bells and whistles. Every scooter I have ever got has been modified to have the bits I needed - the AK seemed to have all I wanted as standard (except a top box) so it was the sensible choice.
Goes like stink though.......

A very kind offer - but with money tight after my recent flat exchange in the UK, restoring our VW camper, saving for the VCDM Marrakesh to Dakar trip next year (plus Greece again!) I'm going to have to ignore that itch.

Must
Ignore

Buff
Yeah once you ride one for any distance everything else feels a bit less than.

Granted the fuel gauge is a bit pessimistic and the Nav drains the battery a bit, both fob batteries will fail and the fork oil seal has gone pop but oh my God it's such a joy to ride.

It has so much mid range torque it's silly and it just launches out of roundabouts and slip roads like it's on fire.

It's pretty amazing.
