Hi, I have read about the safety benefits of ASR/ABS, on the 2015 GTS 300 I recently bought.

I am unclear on if there is anything I need to know about the features or settings I would ever want to adjust.

I tried to do a search since I figured this would have come up before, but didn't find anything on the 2015, and am not sure if different model years are different.

Thanks!

I don't think so. One can turn off the traction control.

As I recall, there's something about resetting the ASR whenever you change a tire.

If you didn't get an owners manual with your scooter it would be worthwhile to download one.

I looked, but can't tell if I am looking at the one for the right model year, does anyone know if this is the one for 2015 http://www.vespaclubusa.com/manuals/vespa_gts300super.pdf

When would one want to turn off traction control?

When you are riding in very deep gravel or shingle, or snow or mud where you are experiencing the traction control constantly kicking in trying to cut the power. This prevents you from making any progress. That's the only time that you need to do that. Same as in a car.

When driving your scoot up a steel trailer ramp when wet. Prepare for a wild experience when it's activated.

ASR Traction Control
Calibrating and disabling the ASR (traction control) system:
Every time a tire is replaced, the ASR system must be calibrated. The steps to do this are:
1. Start the scooter.
2. Hold the starter button until the EFI/ASR lamp illuminates amber.
3. Let engine idle for at least three seconds.
4. Hold both the starter button and brake lever for about five seconds. Don't worry, the engine will not crank.
5. The EFI/ASR lamp will flash. Ride the scooter on a straight line for around 10 seconds at a constant 20-25 MPH. Once the system has calibrated, the ASR/EFI lamp will extinguish.

I normally switch the ASR off when I start the scooter, because I don't like that momentary cut-out when I do a quick start, or go over a bump. I would definitely have it switched on if the road is wet or dusty, or slippery in any way.
