ok folks we set a place and date

Place: Maggie Valley, NC

Host hotel: Creekside lodge
VERY LIMITED rooms there. plenty of hotels across the street and nearby though.

there was not alot of places to choose from that had a large block of rooms.

Typically folks arrive thursday night and we ride FRI, SAT, and bug out sunday.

Ride days we leave at 9 am and return somewhere 3-4-5 pm.

Don't have a route or agenda planned so we will probably just wing it for the 2 days of routes. Really can't go wrong anywhere we head to in the mountains

New folks interested: we are a riding group not a putt putt group, normally lots of elevation changes and corners. NO less than 200cc scooters.

please ensure you scooter/motorcycles are fully maintained PRIOR to coming, great to excellent tires and brakes, also batteries are good.

As always no event t-shirts, patches, stickers buttons, pins or anything similar, ALSO no event fees either.

Hmm. I'll be doing the same sort of thing that weekend, but with the ST-Owners group in Plattsburgh, NY. Dancing the big horse (Honda ST1300) through the Northern mountains.

Look forward to seeing everybody again.

Assuming the stupid virus allows this Gathering to happen, my parents and I will be there. We do have a room booked.

I just noticed this posting.

I am going to Maggie Valley in a couple of weeks for a five night stay.

But it is such a good place, that going again in another month won't hurt anything.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again.

I have been delaying posting this message. However, I will not be making the gathering due to health concerns and upon advice of my primary doctors. I started off the year with another heart episode that had me down for some time. In April I went back out I broke my ankle on the very first ride. Another two months of downtime. Now I'm dealing with sleep issues due to my heart rhythm. This is not a good year for me!

Please be safe and know that I will be with you all in spirit and preparing myself to ride next spring.

There has been some good to come from this series of events in that many of our home remodeling projects are nearly done and those remaining will be completed by the end of September.

Ralph - sorry that you’re having a tough year. Hope that you can get to a better place soon. We’ll miss you and probably talk about you!

We'll miss you Ralph, but putting your health first is the right call. Hopefully another 8 months will help you heal up and we'll get to see you in Spring 2021!

When I texted OAD a few days ago, he said it was still looking hopeful. He did some pre-riding in August. There are restaurants that are open, though many of them have limited capacity and/or outdoor dining.

Assuming I can get the trailer wiring fixed (AGAIN!!!! Stupid squirrels...), we're still planning on being there.

With all the COVID craziness, I haven't done a lot of riding, but I did get out and put a couple hundred miles on the Indian a couple Saturday's ago. So I foresee a large helping of Ibuprofen in my near future...

Talked with Carol at Creekside today and she wanted to remind everyone to bring a mask. Some business requires one.

She said we should not have any problem finding places to eat.

Kevin and I are finishing our 6,000+ mile warmup trip to Oregon and back.

We had no trouble finding restaurants anywhere. new Mexico pretty much closed to visitors so we snuck through the northwest corner.

I need new tires now.

NC is pretty any time of the year: please take a group pic with most of you if possible, on your MP3’s. It might make a Guinness World Record??

When a group gets together on a regular basis and friendships form, the bike they ride becomes unimportant and they keep getting together regardless of ride. This group has always welcomed other likeminded riders.

Gathering started as primarily an MP3 group. Almost none of the regular participants still have one and those that do typically ride something else to the gathering. Some recent ones have had no MP3s.

I believe the record of MP3s at one spot in United States was our gathering at Tim's Ford, Tennessee 11 years ago when 17 participated. The only person I am aware of who put more miles one MP3 than my 65,000 mile 400 is Pony Driver. I put another 25,000 miles on a 250 first. There was a long ago member on a 350 who may have put more on one MP3.

Weather.com is predicting 40% to 60% chances of showers this weekend with highs in the low 60s to low 70s for Maggie Valley. So make sure to pack your rain and cold weather gear, because we all know those temps will be lower at higher altitudes and in the mornings...

After TN_Sooner's accident last fall, I know KevinK recommended that we all write up some standardized medical info and put it in our inside jacket pockets. I've been a slacker and haven't gotten to it yet. But what all were we supposed to write down? I know blood type and allergies, but what else? I'm guessing your name, your ICE contact info, and probably more...

My family scheduled a gathering in Chicago this week, so I won’t be attending the Maggie Valley gathering.

I hope I will be able to come in the Spring.

I just updated my info in the jacket pocket, just need to find a Med info pin to put on the pocket so folks can see it if ever needed.

I should have put this out. BTW, blood type won't be of use. Any transfusion work will require a blood typing because hospitals won't take the risk.

My list:

1. All driver's license info. Police won't rest until they have that.
2. Emergency contacts with names and phone numbers
3. Existing medical conditions (e.g., allergies to drugs, blood pressure, etc.)
4. List of current medications
5 Medical insurance information

Some of us opted for a dry road ride up to Hot Springs for lunch. Some others think a gathering is about riding in a cage to Asheville for some special apple juice.
