It seems like it can only be done by changing the cdi unit with a derestricted one. All I could find online is this unit for 50cc primavera 4T 4V...

https://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/2725/cdi--piaggio-vespa-50cc-4t-4v#

would it be compatible with my vespa which is 3V instead of 4V?

When I check the part number I can see that it also fits some 4T 2V Vespa models... They are written at the bottom of the page...

That's why I was curious about 3v engines....

You have an i-Get 3V injection engine. This CDI doesn't work with it. Your dealer can derestrict it by reprogramming the ECU (if it's allowed there). That's how we do it here in Greece...

Do you mean using the same unit for checking the diagnostics? Or is it another system?

Yes. Using PADS we reprogram the ECU with the unrestricted MAP for the Greek market. I donít know if they allow it there...

My Vespa service did not even know that it can be done with the diagnostics tool... We did not have the 50cc vespas until very recently and they are used to derestrict via taking out the spacer ring...

But they have the tool to check the diagnostics and we will try to find out how to derestrict on Monday... They say they only used it to see something was wrong with the vehicle only...

Thereís a chance though, that Piaggio doesnít supply the MAP for your country. Are the 50cc scooters restricted by law in your country??

A ďMAPĒ is the program that goes inside the ECU so itís operational. This is provided by Piaggio through the updates of the PADS software and itís different depending the country / market. If your country has a law that restricts 50cc scooters up to 25Km/h Piaggio wonít give this MAP for your country...

The US doesn't restrict 50cc scooters though some states do if you want to register it as a "moped" and ride on a either an m2 or car license depending on what the state requires for mopeds.

in some states you can choose either restricted "moped" classification which limits you to 30mph (50kpm) or "motorcycle" which has no speed restriction but requires the rider to have a m or m1 aka full motorcycle license.

Would this work if we can't manage to do it by reprogramming?

Seems like the CDI/ECU on my scooter is CM278915, which is limited to 45 KM/h...

Our dealers don't have a derestricted MAP... It is only standard...

The only solution (maybe) is the Malossi CDI unit for 3V iGet Engines:

Is there any other way to make my Vespa go at 65 km/h instead of 50?

Hello!

Has anyone managed to derestrict 4T 3V here? I am having problem with it myself. Is the only way to then buy new CDU or can it be done by reprogramming somehow?

I have a 2018 Piaggio Liberty 50 with the same engine.
I bought the scooter used at 280km but the variator rollers had been changed by the previous owner to 5.3g.

I would like to know what is the original weight of the piaggio rollers on the I-GET 50CC MOTOR !?

I am in Canada, I only install a Malossi variator with the big white spring with 5.8g rollers and I have a speed of 71 km / h on GPS.
with 6.1g, acceleration was not fast ...

I haven't installed the Malossi CDI UNIT yet, I don't know if it would improve performance?

I don't understand why no one is talking about the weight of the rollers !?
Often the originals are too heavy and slow down the scooter.

Vermi: In Primavera IGet 3V 50cc 2018 the original rollers were 6.5 grams. I bet yours were too.

I have changed the CDI to Malossi and rollers to 5.7 grams. Top speed +10 km/h and slight improvement to acceleration. The nature of iGet 50 is lazy. You can grow a beard while taking off to 60 km/h
