I have a 2009 Piaggio Fly 150. I am trying to convert to LEDs. The bulbs in the front, parking and signals will accept a standard 1156 based bulb. The rear is different. The signal bulb is a single filament with a strange base. Instead of the two indexing pins on the side being located midlife they are offset to one side. 1156 bulb will not physically fit in the socket. Tail/brake bulb is the same way. Makes no sense that the front lights are industry standard, yet the rear is like it was made on a different planet.

Any suggestions or ideas how to correct this, or anyone know of a source for LED bulbs?

Hmm. Got any pics of the base? You may want to make another post in the General Discussion section. It'd get more exposure.

As I understand you’re trying to integrate the indicators in the taillight?? The bulb base is different so you are forced to use orange bulbs in the markets where the indicators are integrated and not separate...

Check these out...

Thanks for the link. It helped me figure out what I need. All I am trying to do is replace incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs on my scooter.

I updated my 2002 Yamaha FZ1 to BiXenon and LEDs and at the same time I ordered in a Bixenon headlight kit for my 09 Fly 150 scooter. I checked the front lights and saw that parking lights and signals used 1156 based bulbs and just assumed that the rear would have 1156 based signal bulbs and 1157 based bulb for brake/tail light. Got the front half of the scooter done, pulled the back lenses off and found they used different based bulbs. The link you gave provided a clue to how to find the brake/tail light bulb. The brake/tail light takes a BAW15D bulb. Due to the clear lens look they gave the 09 Fly 150 you need amber BAU15S for the rear signals and a red BAW15D bulb for brake/tail light.

Don't understand why they would mix the standards like that. Red 1157 bulbs exist, as do amber 1156 bulbs. What it did do was explain the proper naming convention to me after near 45+ years of working with just using 2 bulb numbers and a description of the glass size/shape. Just in time to retire.

If you already have the bulbs can simply file off one pin. Or source correct bulb holders from Vespa.

The "bulb holders" are the ones that come on all 2009 Piaggio Fly 150 scooters for sure, and likely the same as on all with the rear clear signal/tail/brake light lenses. On the single filament bulbs you can remove one pin, but on the 2 filament bulb that won't work. The base contacts are the opposite filaments on the 1157 bulb. In other words if I file off one pin and put the bulb in the brighter light is on the tail light, so you don't notice the dimmer light coming on when brakes are applied. Would love to know the reasoning some engineer dreamed up when he proposed that they needed to change from the worldwide industry standard for just the rear 3 bulbs. The fronts use BA15S based bulbs, just like the 1156 or any other single contact 15mm diameter base with 2 equal height pins 180 degrees apart.
It must not be common for Piaggio Fly scooter owners to switch to led bulbs. I have located bulbs on Aliexpress. The factory stock red brake light bulb has a Phillips number stamped on it of 12495.
