Off to ride Spearfish Canyon (northern Black Hills, in western South Dakota) solo today...

The Vespa running solo...

I spent some time on the Interstate today - the Vespa stays up with traffic enough to not be a road hazard. Adding a couple pounds of air pressure to the front tire really made a difference in how it handles the grooved sections of road. There was a little "twitch" but not the major pull left and right I experienced previously.

About 150 miles, nicely divided between highway and the twisties. Five days after the Sturgis Rally wrapped up, and the roads are blissfully mostly traffic-free.

I miss that part of the country. My father grew up an hour's drive south and I visited frequently as a kid.

Thanks for the pics Jim.

That's a beautiful part of the country and your picture brings back a lot of good memories of my rides there. Thanks for that.

Did you visit Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse monument, or Custer State park to check out the buffalo heard?

Beautiful Scenery - Excellent Photos
Captain,

Perfect roads to scooter down. I was fortunate to drive through the
area last year to attend a wedding in Denver. Unfortunately in a cage -
but still beautiful. I would have enjoyed riding sweep behind you.

We have been in the Black Hills for a couple months this trip, so we've had time to tourist our way all around. Multiple trips to Mt Rushmore, a few drive-bys of Crazy Horse, and through Custer State park at least once a week (probably a bit more than that - Iron Mountain Road is one of our favorites).

Nice, I wish I were there.
