Judy:

Dig a hole
Jump in the hole
Pull the hole in after you

Tie your scoot to one of the pilings your house is on.

There will be a good tee shirt afterwards that says, I Survived Hurricane Lane.

Good luck

We are all watching the Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports Judy. Hopefully it helps to be on the North side of Oahu. Keep your head down.

Judy runs Heidenaus. I think she gets the ones with the special red mud super tread.

Looks like a lot of rain so far on the Big Island.. reports of up to 17in overnight. If this is what we have to look forward to here, there's going to be a lot of people flooded out again that *just* recovered from a storm back in April.

Or batten them up! Anyone who lives near the ocean or a low spot that collects flood water might want to get their scooter up to the second floor or other raised storage spot if possible.

Here's a cool but frightening video for all. Hopefully you can watch that without being logged into facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/HawaiiNewsNow/videos/248787955971971/
Still waiting for anything to happen. It's been drizzling all day. Went to work to make sure everything was covered and off (and to grab my pizza and malasadas from the fridge.) Someone actually walked into the store trying to make an order. People were still going to the little coffee shop and getting their hair cut next door. WTF is wrong with people? Go home and prepare, or be with your family, or you know.. don't do totally unnecessary stuff. Came home and shoveled out some of the dirt and rocks from under the house with Dad and didn't die. Now my back hurts.

Oh and they're testing our sirens right now. I hope everyone got the message otherwise it's the missle alert fiasco all over again.

"Localized storm total amounts well in excess of 40 inches have already been observed along the windward side of the Big Island" - Central Pacific Hurricane Center. Gee, that is more rain than we get in a year, and I supposedly live in a wet place. Looks like Lane is weakened to a tropical storm and is forecast to turn toward the West today. Hopefully that will give our friends on Oahu a break.

Well. alright! Tropical storm Lane has now moved to the West, away from Oahu and Kauai.

Meh.. it was a bit windy at my house, so we ratchet strapped the trash cans to a tree in our yard. It barely rained. Otherwise nothing to report here.

Poor Big Island got it the worst.. almost 4 feet of rain. Maui (Lahaina specifically) caught on fire. How? I'm not sure.

Back still hurts... my sciatica is killing me.
