I installed a lowering kit on the rear shocks about 1500 miles ago. The ride seems hard with little shock action-starting to have back problems-pain. The kit is well made and easy to install. I did not have many miles on it when I installed the kit so I do not remember the ride but I think it was less hard, especially over bumps. Any thoughts or information? Options? The kit compresses the left shock a lot. 2009 Mp3 500 thanks Jim

you changing the geometry of the ride quite a bit when do that mod.
More likely original shocks and they are due for replacement as they probably are not function well anymore.

the ride with lowering kit
OAD thank you. The bike only has 2400 miles on it. I may have to look into the shocks but they look to be in good condition. thanks Jim

If the lowering kit compresses the springs, no wonder the ride is harsher, stiffer and bottoms out too soon. Most lowering kits I've seen for the MP3 just lower the attachment point of the shocks by using different brackets. The full travel of the shock is available after lowering, and the original spring tension is preserved.

You may need to investigate the Hagon Shocks vs the Bracket.
I am told, you can't buy them in the US anymore, but I am sure you can get them in the UK. There is a Post from a while back where I investigated this to find the right shock with Hagon's help in the US.

The other option, more money...
Buy the Piaggio Gel Seat?

I have the Hagon Shockes and Gel Seat, and the Ride comfortable.

lowering kit and hard ride
This is the kit developed on the Mp3 web sites, sells for about 165.00-it lowers the shocks but the left shock seems limited and limits the right shock. I would like to learn more about different shocks. thanks Jim

Yeah, there's a reason I switched from my lowering brackets to a set of shorter RFY (knockoff Ohlins) shocks...

Look What OAD Found For Me...

I made my own lowering brackets. It really doesn't change the ride much at all. None that I can really tell. It does lower the center of gravity and I think that is a plus. It is a little harder putting it on the center stand but nothing undo-able. As far as the shocks, it does not change the spring compression rate at all. The angle is changed by a few degrees but they function just fine. Mine has never bottomed out and I lowered it about 2" total. The kit you purchased lowers the bike about 1 1/2". I would never go back as far as ride height. I have about $40 in materials and 4 hours of labor for fabrication and installation.

lowering kit and hard ride
For more information search this site MP3 500 lowering kit. There is a description and pictures. The other site I use is Mp3scooterclub.co UK Both sites are helpful as there is not a lot of information on this scooter.

lowering kit and ride-my mistake
I had posted that after installing a lowering kit on my 2009 Mp3 500 the ride was harsh. Well I have been looking at it and the pictures on this site-got on the floor with a flashlight and compared them. I had installed the right bracket too low. I had the top of it in the bottom hole , instead on one hole down from the top. Refitted the right shock and bracket and all is well. My mistake-- not a problem with the lowering kit. I think the lowering brackets kit is great. thanks Jim

where can I get the kit? I need at least 2" and the kit with custom seat might be enough
