What's the furthest you've ever ridden a scooter in one day, and on which make of scooter?
I realize Bill Dog would probably shame us all in this thread, but just wondering.
I think 82 miles is my record, on the GTS 300.

![]() A little over 300 Kms.
6 hours non stop riding. Except for gas and a truck stop coffee. |
![]() Which scooter?
200 miles or so on my 150S, on a group ride. The actual ride was about 150 miles, the rest was getting across L.A. to and from the start and end points.
I'm not sure that my repeated 450 mile (each way) weekend trips to Las Vegas from Ogden, UT really count as "scooter" riding since I was on my Burgman 600 and it was basically a 65-80MPH straight shot down I-15. I made an average 300 mile per day pace on my Burgman 650 between Los Angeles and Seattle for Amerivespa (CA-1/US-101). I think this counts because I could have done that on the 150 with very creative and light packing. The extra fuel stops needed would have slowed me down a bit though. I still want to try that again now that Big Sur is open again. This time, I want to take the 150... |

![]() Can't compete with Mike Holland, but I've done three day trips over 600km on my GTS 300. The longest was 630km. I can actually go further in a day on the Vespa than on my Moto Guzzi, because although it's slower, the riding position and seat are much more comfortable.
Cheers. - Jim. |
![]() I don't get out of London much but the furthest I have ridden was about 70-80 miles ending up in Cambridge. Wouldn't repeat it unless I had 300cc or more.

![]() I don't do more than 100-150 per day. IMHO the open road is boring no matter what I'm driving. I prefer the video game adrenaline like feeling from mixing it up in city driving. The best time of my life was riding around San Diego on my SR500 from 1980-1985.

![]() 410 miles on my BV350, from Burlington NC to Ronks, PA, on the way home from buying the bike.

![]() My longest ride was this summer from Somerset to Redhill, Surrey and return.
It was 246 miles and was plenty enough for me on my 125. I got there, turned round and came home without stopping once. somerset |

Or 1509 miles in 32 hours. Calais to Alencon back to Calais then on to Lubeck in northern Germany and back to Calais. Kymco Downtown 300. I'm attempting to bring the 1000 miles in less than 17 hours thing when I can. Bill x |

![]() IIRC, right around 525 miles coming back from Amerivespa with wmak this year. Both of us riding our GTS. Needed to get back to work. Didn't quite plan on it, but we decided to see how the day went. Decided to take a break at a possible overnight spot, but still felt good about riding, so we kept going. The only real regret was not taking more time to poke around Kentucky.
I think when I picked up my BV this August and rode it home it should have been right around 300 miles. Never imagined I'd do this stuff a few years ago when I started tootling around on my LX. ![]() |
![]() 500 miles in one day. On a 2009 Scarabeo 500. That’s a scooter, right?

![]() A couple hundred miles on scoots. In our younger years, my wife and I rode full dress motorcycles and 500 mile days weren't uncommon. We both require a bit more comfort these days and rarely do that many miles in a day with our motorhome. The scoots are for the fun of it for us - we're making smiles more than miles.

![]() Muster
I think my record on a GTS250 was 1007 in just under 20 hours with a bald rear tyre, a failing fuel pump, no rear brake and a team mate with a bad temper.
A couple of months ago I set out to break my own mileage record but I called it a day after I hit a deer at around 80 mph at 1am in the morning on a French highway. The Kymco survived intact but it destroyed my confidence 5 hours into the ride. I rode to 837 miles in 14. and a 1/2 hours but called it a day when the weather turned shitty. Ho hum. Bill x |

![]() 1350 miles in a day give or take, on a Burgman 650, 400 miles on a GTS300 in a day. Managed 1500 miles almost non stop on my GSX1400 to get to my workshop in the South of France for an urgent job. Rarely dropped below 90moh on the GSX as it was mostly on French highways with an 80mph speed limit, but everyone cruises at around 90mph. So the miles passed very quickly as did the tanks of gas. Managed 39mpg though which is not bad at that speed. She carried 5 gallons just over.

![]() Didn't really use the scoot for long distance traveling...probably max. 100 miles during a day, but with stops.
I get really bored just riding straight roads, both with 2-wheelers and cars. If I really had to go somewhere far, without having train or plane as an option, I prefer car - less noise, easier to listen music etc.... With motorcycles, I've always been a backroad explorer. Plenty of stops, slower curvy roads. This means that daily miles won't typically exceed 200. |

![]() I wanted to see if I could do an Iron Butt 1500 in 36 hours from Key West to Niagara Falls and to my surprise I did it in 32 hours and could probably have done it in 30 had I been motivated. I took four meandering days to ride home immediately thereafter and completed 3504 miles that week. Two weeks later riding to work st 45 miles per hour I was clocked by a distracted driver wrecking my Burgman 200 and sending me to ICU on an air ambulance. I am still in rehab learning to walk and plotting another Bun Burner yo Alexandria Bay next spring on another Baby Burgman.

C650 (a present to myself for my 70th b'day 😁) from a dealer in Oregon and rode it home to California. I flew up in the morning, rode 210 miles that afternoon, then 415 miles the next day. |

![]() Does a Honda 50 Cub (early ohv version) count? If so, 365 miles from Newquay (Cornwall) to Newton-le-Willows (then Lancashire) in 1966. It was the first time I'd been on holiday by bike - I was only 18. Took 3 leisurely days to get to Cornwall, enjoyed ten days down there and decided to see how far I could get in the day. 13 hours to home! No Severn Bridge in those days, went over from Aust to Beachley on the ferry, through the Wye Valley and all the way up the A49 back to Newton.

![]() I’m not sure if it was 720 or 780 miles when I decided at the last minute to go to Amerivespa in Indianapolis. Rode the BV 500 from Breckenridgre I traded in for the CTX in Indy. Had about 6,500 miles on in by the time I arrived in Houston.
That was the trip I got New England states clicked off my ride map. |

![]() My longest day is probably about 110 miles or so. I don't have a riding partner, so I'm solo on a 40 year old machine.... I've always made it home (one time without lights), but I'm a bit of a worrier.
