Quick question, got a puncture and wondering if I correct in thinking wheel nut is 13mm so go back in morning and change it with socket and bar.
Thankyou

Yes, you're thinking correctly about the 13mm.

I hate to be pedantic (really I do!) but the wheel nut is M8. M8 nuts, unless they are a special-purpose item, take a 13mm spanner/socket.

i bet ya could build a vespa with a 13mm socket ... they hold everything on ... wheels seat muddy tank ... bet mine only use 8,10 n 13 to hold everything n a 7mm spanner for cable adjustment

Unless you've got SIP tubeless wheels - they're still M8 of course but need a 12mm spanner.

You wouldn't get that far without an 11mm socket for the M7 nuts all over the motor!

and the GS/SS used M8 that take a 14mm socket.

but for most bikes the 11mm, 13mm, Sparkplug tool covers most of what you need on the road.

And how about that sneaky oil drain screw with the 13 socket head but M7 thread?

I think it's the other way around... an M8 thread and 11mm head. Tricky.

Damn, you're right! M8 thread for flow, 11mm head to avoid over-tightening (or so goes the theory).

Actually I don't think there is enough room somehow for a 13mm head. I lost the proper one and had to replace it with a cap screw because it was hard to get a socket in there.

Thanks for the explanation Ginch. I understand that a 7mm nut takes an 11mm socket and an 8mm nut takes a 13mm socket but what about pitch? Are all Vespa nuts 1.0 pitch? I want to buy some dyes but don't know if I need 1.0 or 1.25

Thread pitch for M7's are 1.0 according to SIP. I think the M8's are 1.25 but can't find confirmation sorry.
