This actually concerns me. The person Syd sent to is a noob with only 7 posts. I hope he doesn't flake out. I will send him a PM.

Edit: Good news. I PM'd him and he confirmed that he had, indeed received the package but had not gotten around to posting about it.

Thanks to all you procrastinators out there for helping me stay relaxed. It's been a hectic month so far, so worried about staying on task. I've managed to gather the various items, and a box, but have yet to assemble things for shipping.

Tomorrow, along with Christmas cards, then off to the P.O. next week.

The Eagle Has Landed!!!
I'm usually one of the last to receive my package, so imagine my surprise to find a box waiting for me when I got home from shopping on Friday!

Turns out I got the grand poobah of the whole shebang as my gifter this year. And Vintage Matthew hit it out of the park!

Not only did he remember that my love of coffee is exceeded only by my love of atomic fireballs, but he even included a really classy scooter mug so I can enjoy my hot, anti-psychotic go-go juice in style.

And best of all, it arrived during Hanukkah!

Thanks Matthew. Not only do you run a great gift exchange, you are a generous and gifted gifter!

[I have to admit that the Kona coffee made me tear up thinking about Judy. I still can't believe she's gone!]

What a way to start things off, timing and all! Well-done, Matthew.

If you are talking to me, yes... I have two helpers that are always nearby in case something edible accidentally hits the floor.

Sadly it looks like they're out of luck....unless they're into fireballs.

Santa arrived today in a yellow NZPost van...

SS-2018-01.jpg
and delivered a parcel :D

SS-2018-02.jpg
Which contained lots of pale spearmint coloured marshmellow-like things...

SS-2018-03.jpg
and a few other bits 'n' pieces.

SS-2018-04.jpg

SS-2018-05.jpg
Which, when unwrapped revealed and selection of goodies...

Thank Secret Santa...

Don't worry about the edibles, they arrived safely but didn't last long enough to be photographed... a man needs sustenance when working!

Keeping up the tradition
As in past years, I walked away from the post office after sending off my gift to a distant recipient... feeling very proud of myself... I tucked the tracking slip into my pocket... and as my hand went into my pocket, my fingers came in contact with the note that I had intended to tuck inside the package.

I have literally done this every single year!!!

This is up there with habitually saying, "You too" when the clerk at the airport check-in counter wishes you a nice flight.

The shipping estimate is 4-6 days (not sure if that means business days or consecutive days), so it should be reaching that distant land well before xmas (I'm assuming my recipient is not a fellow Red Sea Pedestrian).

How distant a land, you ask? Using the handy internet antipodes mapping tool (https://www.antipodesmap.com/), I see that the recipient's country literally could not be further away from mine.

Seriously, if you tunneled down through the center of the earth and came out on the opposite side of the planet (that's what antipode means), you would come out in the middle of the ocean, about a thousand miles north east of the recipient's country.

And in the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that".

The feeling is mutual. She was such a kind soul. Not a day goes by that I get on here and feel her absence. I take comfort that she is watching me from up above.

And me too. Judy and I had career and travel histories in common and we had messaged about this.

In a special way she is still taking part in the annual gift exchange - all will be revealed in due course ...

I'm not sure if you saw. ValVitol would like to exchange gifts with you.

I sent her your address.

She lives in Guatemala but she has a sister in Texas that is going to visit her. You can send the gift to:

Edit: I meant to send you the address by PM, not post it in the thread. If you didn't get it written down let me know and I will send it to you.
