While riding yesterday I noticed two stations with $1.99/gallon 87 octane regular. Things are looking up!

What are prices now in your area?

The price I've seen around here for that octane rating as of last night is $2.28/gallon.

TBH I never bother checking. Only time I really notice is when filling up from empty. Even then the BMW has never gone over $20 . I'm sure those of you that ride cars pay attention and that I get.

The Vespa... A fill up is cheaper than a pint of beer in downtown T.O.

Have you ever noticed this one:

https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/

If you'll scroll down, scroll some more, and keep on scrolling, you'll find Finland down there

Don't really complain, I've found the greener side in me. It does motivate one to think of forms of transportation with lower consumption. When I was young, every new-to-me car used to have bigger engine than the previous. Now they consume less than the previous.

Used to make work trips to Kuwait some years ago and I found it absolutely crazy....but that's me. Already then, clean water was there more expensive than gas

$2.12 in SW Ohio the other morning - came out ready to gas up after my group therapy session and it had jumped to $2.62.

Threw my donut so hard at a parked car - I now have a court date.

Prices are moving down here in the southern tip of the state, but still around $2.25 locally. My wife checked GasBuddy - a Costco in San Antonio is $1.96 today.

Historically, as gas prices drop, so do scooter sales. We aren't riding scoots for the ecomony, but for the "smiles per gallon."

While I generally agree there are some of us who have a dual purpose for the scooter. It's our only vehicle. On the rare occasions that my wife doesn't need her car, she had a bad experience on a dirt bike growing up, I have the option of using it but most of the time my only choice. It serves a dual purpose as my primary vehicle and to put a smile on my face at times.

A bit of UK perspective.

We are currently at approx £1.30 per litre for standard unleaded, not super unleaded.

Convert that to gallons and then in to dollars and we are at well over $6 a gallon!!!!

About $4.00 a gallon for 91 octane.
Don't really care. With scooters and plug-in Prius's, we use very little road fuel around here.
Genuine Buddy = ~100 MPG
Piaggio BV350 = ~60 MPG
2013 Plug-in Prius = ~55 MPG
2018 Plug-in Prius Prime = ~65 MPG

ditto. O.s has chastised those of us that use foul language on occasion so I have to admit I'm intrigued as to what could have happened. Hopefully all is good and it was in good fun or for a good reason. Still would need to have be one h e double hockey sticks of a donut.

Wow. Your state gasoline taxes must be through the roof.
Perhaps, but one thing to consider is Texas is pretty much awash with crude oil, and also refining capacity (if not excess capacity there) so it makes a lot of sense the cost would be lower there.

Are there any refineries in Oregon?

Filled up Melody at my local Costco day before yesterday. $2.81 for E10 Premium, took two gallons. Averaging a true 70mpg, so hardly a biggie.

Could be worse, when we were in New Zealand last month it worked out on the south island to about $7.40 a US gallon, aka 3.78L Paid $2.28 to fill up the car with regular unleaded today in Houston.

About $2.20-$2.30 here.

I don't ride much when the temp gets below about 40F. My cage is an El Camino and it gets about 16mpg, tops. I average about 50 miles a day and I wanted to find something that would be cheaper to drive so I bought a diesel Rabbit (Golf). It gets about 45-50mpg. I've been watching the price of gas dropping recently but, somewhat frustratingly, the price of disel has stayed more or less the same at about $2.90-$3.10. Still can't complain, though.

Currently in my neighborhood:

$2.90/gal - 87 octane
$3.10/gal - 89 octane
$3.30/gal - 91 octane
$2.70/gal - E85 (105 octane)

Must be a supply and demand sort of thing. I've always heard it's cheaper to manufacture diesel than it is gasoline. Anyone?

The cost of refining gasoline is a little higher than the cost of refining diesel, but it is not a major factor controlling cost at the pump.

The cheapest (87 octane) is CAD $3.77 per U.S. gallon, in my area.
That works out to about U.S. $5.03.
That's why many canucks fill up in Detroit when shopping over there.

I think you have that backwards since $3.77 CAD is $2.87 US.

You're right, my mistake. What I was trying to convey was if you paid U.S.$3.77 in CDN$ it would be $5.03.

I moved to KY in 1973 and have observed that the gasoline cost has remained high nearest the refinery located in the NE corner of this state and continues to be true even 40+ years later. It seems to me that retail gasoline price point is more about other factors than refinery locations?
Delivery distance matters but less than is logical IMO?
State taxes influence price but I know of states I'm in often that taxes are similar yet retail fuel is not nearly the same.
It's common knowledge in my area that if one goes a short ways south on I-75 to south central KY, the price is always much lower-often 25 cents a gallon. I paid $2.17 gallon/87 yesterday and know it's cheaper down there in most any brand than here in my area.
Lots of people on the gulf coast (our oldest son a pilot there did) lost their jobs when oil prices bottomed out. Maybe even more will be lose out if this low price remains much longer?
My observation is that people either don't care or really notice the price and flock to the best price. Often I see a high priced station with as many cars as the far cheaper one next door.
Many city stations have time of day price drops to suck in the junk food, etc., crowd.
