I have 5000 miles on the scooter and it overheated once on me. I noticed the coolant was low so i filled it up and have had no overheating issues. The scooter drives fine, no white smoke but the oil is a white sludge color. I have changed it and it seems to be the same after refill. Also the coolant is a white sludge color as if the two of them are mixing.

Since the bike no longer overheats and drives fine I am stuck as to what the issue is. I clearly have somewhere where the water is getting into the oil. I have been told possibly the water pump has an issue and other times the head gasket.

Also since the water pump/ flywheel area is filled with white sludge what is best to use to clean up this area?

Thoughts?

Thanks

That'll be the head gasket for sure.

Once it's been replaced, you'll need to use a flushing oil a couple of times to get rid of any sludge - you do NOT want any of that to remain in the small oil passages, potentially blocking them. Get it done ASAP, and the only ride you should do now is to the dealer if you don't intend to do the work yourself.

you have oil in your coolant and coolant in your oil.

I would suspect a head gasket first.

only 1 way to truly find out and its to pull the head off and inspect the gasket and surface.

I would flush the coolant lines and passages throughly after finding the cause and fixing that.

Then I would do an oil and filter change, run it for 5 miles and do another oil and filter change.

If it overheated it could be a cracked head. I suppose you'll see that when you have it apart for the gasket change.

a cracked head will give white smoke

A faulty headgasget wont'do that also a faulty seal of the waterpumpshaft could be the problem

You are correct. I guess I missed that when reading his post.
