Having a problem with my Piaggio Beverly 125 engine cutting out while idle or at slow speeds. starts stuttering then cuts out. have to give it some gas to get it going most times.

Also a smell of gas when starting or turning off engine.

Would it be a problem with the fuel pump?

Is this happening right after youíve filled the tank? Maybe an evap issue? Which if it is, someone more technical will have to explain/help you.

This can be brought on by over-filling the gas tank and overflow going into the evap canister. Same thing happens on my BV 350 if Iím not careful.

Need more info. What year is the scooter? Is it carbed or fuel injected? What has been done to the scooter lately in the way of servicing?

The scooter is a Fuel Injection 2011 model Piaggio Beverly 125.

Ignition starts okay, when apply revs it starts stuttering then engine cuts off and has a faint smell of gas. happens when stationary and at slow speeds.

It's had a new water pump installed in the last few months.

Sorry if I'm not more technical
